I wish reporting would stop genocides as so many journalists are killed for doing it, but it never happens.

Al Jazeera's found ways to record new genocidal acts in Gaza every day - i.e. news - and Arab countries did nothing until their citizens took to the streets.

I mean hostages are people awaiting to be traded.

Prisoners is a generic term: prisoners of war, political prisoners, people doing a jail sentence, awaiting trial or indictment or to be traded etc.

MSM reporting on genocides for decades didn't stop any of them, and posts on social media aren't votes...

I think millions of people taking to the streets all over the world, telling their governments to take action - and support their citizens aboard the Sumud Flotilla - made a difference.

Hostages vs. prisoners is the distinction used by Israel, Palestine & other Arab countries since 1948. We're free to ignore it but the press shouldn't - imo.

They've covered UN & NGOs' reports - and published their own investigations with +972 - on IDF's abuses, Gazans' deliberate starving since Feb. 2024 & other "genocidal acts".

A year ago the Interior ministry had still enough police to arrest escort aid trucks & arrest looters, but IDF kept targeting them. So Hamas fighters started "liquidating" looters without trial.

On citizens' constitutional rights, immigrants' civil & human rights etc., the mostly Catholic Constitutional Court has been ruling against (self-proclaimed) Catholic prime ministers for decades.
