No that's what I thought too! What's weirder is that these guys were apparently made in '98 for the n64, which was even before Paper Mario 64

Originally, the Karbines (the little owl dudes from the factory levels who shoot at you) from Donkey Kong Country 3 had a different design where they were like robot... guys. yeah
