Something you're going to notice as you work your trauma recovery: being reflexively silent because you're intimidated or in a "freeze" response feels very different than choosing silence because you're opting out of a toxic exchange that doesn't support your recovery.

Most people are so ignorant re trauma. They do harm. Without any thought.

Remember today that your life & your trauma recovery is not a group project.

You don't "owe" explanations or justifications to anyone you don't choose-- for your reasons, & within your boundaries.

Your bullies & abusers never counted on you working a recovery that supports you in understanding what they did to you.

You prioritizing your safety, stability, & self care w/ each decision you make today makes them increasingly less relevant or powerful in your story.

You need to know that competent, smart people are routinely made to feel stupid & "dramatic" in medical situations. It has nothing to do w/ how smart you are or how valid your medical issue is. It's a systemic problem that is happening to lots & lots of other people too.
Healthcare is Lawless.

We'll only get more skilled & resilient (ugh, that word) at handling triggers & reactions by meeting our challenges w/ them w/ patience & compassion.

Our skill level demonstrably goes down, gets worse, if we kick the sh*t out of ourselves for how we handled the last trigger.

Acknowledging your teeny, tiny trauma recovery "wins" at the end of the day is not some feel good "participation trophy" bullsh*t. It's how we reinforce & build recovery supporting habits in our nervous system, & also how we track what is & isn't working.

We don’t become “more resilient” by ignoring needs.

We become resilient when needs are met.

When boundaries are respected.

When safety is built into the environment.

Resilience is not an individual trait.

It is a collective responsibility.
Sick of not getting proper cptsd care.
