Do these introduction-y posts do anything? I guess we shall see! Hi, new followers and/or The Curious: I write spookyangry horrorbooks like MARY, NESTLINGS, REST STOP, and the upcoming WHEN THE WOLF COMES HOME. I've also maybe appeared as a scumbag on your favorite crime procedural TV show!
A snarling, too-many-teethed wolf lurking outside a dirty window. The cover for WHEN THE WOLF COMES HOME, by Nat Cassidy, a book you should totally preorder. A bloody tile floor with some googly eyes and the title REST STOP spelled out with various cut-out letters. The cover of a novella by Nat Cassidy, which you should totally buy. A skeletal bird creature hovering over a nest with a human skull, with the New York City skyline in the distant background. The cover of the book, NESTLINGS, by Nat Cassidy, which you should totally buy. A woman relaxing in a bathtub with a journal and a glass of wine, but also with a pillowcase over her head and an additional, unaccounted-for arm coming out of the water. The cover of the novel, MARY, by Nat Cassidy, which, you guessed it, you should totally buy.

This Questlove story, in which he details intentionally almost ruining a Roots concert to impress D’Angelo because he knew they were musical soulmates, is a perfect example of their genius. Before they’d even met—and speaking only through rhythm—they created an all-time sound. Its incredible. Watch:

Few horror writers land that perfect combo of malevolence and glee as @natcassidy.bsky.social. I'm reading his novella REST STOP right now, and my god, it's just singing. Crackling off the page, and both scary and FUN to read. The dude understands horror.

one of the realest tributes to Prince anybody did after he died. Somebody major needs to get on TV and do for “The Charade” what D’Angelo did here

I just shouted "No" in my office. One of the most brilliant musicians of the modern era, with a discography that's heartbreakingly small but unquestionably perfect.

I don’t understand why we need a “Columbus Day” when this country celebrates incompetent white men failing up and taking what isn’t theirs all year round.

Everyone is pointing out how obsessed he’s been with mortality lately, and that’s notable, but this also feels like a backhanded commitment to giving up any illusions of being good.

The only way we save our country is through our numbers.

Trump and MAGA don't have the majority, not even close.

Overwhelm them with numbers. Resist everywhere. They are too reckless, incompetent, and self-destructive.

Also, divide and conquer. Many fissures, especially around Epstein.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

You should also check out the audiodrama itself, which is available wherever audiobooks are sold, and features an incredible cast, led by the immaculate Ashlie Atkinson (Mamie Fish on The Gilded Age) and including formerly-mustached horror novelist Nat Cassidy as Lloyd the Xenobiologist ...

I like to think of it as my training-wheels novel; since Mac had already taken care of the plot, I got to use this opportunity to learn how to tell a story in book form. And I think I did a pretty okay job!

The paperback is out of print, so if you're curious, jump on this deal!
