Nothing is real to MAGA, that's what you need to understand. Everything can be true or false at any time, or even the same time, depending on what they need to believe in order to feel catharsis. They have created vast, insular social environments for the purpose of endless emotional indulgence.

Reading this is very frustrating and not just because of Brexit. It is all about the political risk to discuss questions people do not want to hear. How is that kind of political debate going to lead to effective decision-making?

I was looking at Reform's policy again the other day. They're proposing a £60k salary for people on ILR keeping their visa. Which means pretty much every nurse on ILR would be a risk. It's insane.
Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.

Maybe I can also add a note to say that I'm finding it extremely sad and disappointing that British politics is so messed up these days.

There's a lot of work that needs picking up after the destruction caused by austerity and Brexit but no-one seems to want to talk about things that really matter.

For no reason at all I thought this quote from Katie Lam MP would work in a different font. I thought I’d add a headline too.

Apropos of nothing in particular. Really, no reason at all.

I thought I'd translate this into contemporary German c1932, when the party was in opposition.
Thank you - to be completely fair, in the 1930s the last paragraph would have been even more aggressive, with more really vile language added to it.
Imagine this being barked at you in a screaming voice that is nearly breaking up.

For a moment I was tempted to add some party symbols to it to improve the illustration, but then thought better of it.

If there is any sanity left in America then Donald Trump leaning in to the No Kings accusations with these dire AI videos should make the #NoKings movement even stronger.

It is a scandal totally unprecedented in history that the Vice President has shared a video depicting the President as king. It’s an obscene violation of every founding American principle.

And nothing will come of it. It makes me physically sick.

If the administration has such great evidence that these targets are narcoterrorists who pose an imminent threat to the national security of the United States, why are they not being tried in our criminal courts? 🤔
Breaking news: The United States plans to repatriate two alleged drug traffickers to Colombia and Ecuador after military forces attacked their vessel in the Caribbean on Thursday.

It is unclear if the two surviving alleged drug smugglers have any links to Venezuelan criminal organizations.

Adelita Grijalva won her election to Congress nearly a month ago, but Mike Johnson still hasn't sworn her in. Why the delay? Perhaps it's because Grijalva would cast the final vote needed to release the Epstein files.
And we thought that a Tory leader who is confusing Villa with West Ham was bad enough — remember that it can always get worse, much, much worse….
If Robert Jenrick thinks the story of 1980s football hooliganism is ‘The police put a quick but firm end to it’, I’ve a big bag of magic beans that he’s gonna *love*
Baked beans can be greatly enhanced with slices of Frankfurter sausages - a game changer from unacceptable to quite delicious, especially if you put some parsley on top.

Even in this place, I feel the sheer scale of foreign aid being demolished isn't fully appreciated. As it stands, it is perhaps *the* most catastrophic change to preventable deaths in our lifetimes, and the salience - even in presumably friendly spaces - is basically zero

It’s really hard to see how this can end well given Trump’s history on the peaceful transfer of power and the number of people in his camp including himself being at risk of prosecution once they relinquish their powerful positions.

This is a logic of a 5 yo. A lower court HAS issued a long opinion resolving the issue. If you can't resolve the issue differently, don't issue an unexplained opinion that, for all functional purposes, resolve the issue in the exact opposite way.
Amy Coney Barrett defends heavy use of the shadow docket: "If we wrote a long opinion, it might give the impression that we have finally resolved the issue, and in none of these cases have we finally resolved the issue."
