A good day thus far. I woke up at midnight, had a read of one Anaïs Nin's short, erotic stories, then around 1am had a very pleasurable solo session. Breakfast at 830 - read a bit of Friedrich Katz's The Ancient American Civilization, whilst listening to BBC Radio 3. Attended Holy Communion at 1030.

Two things - 1) I adore black and white photography - B&W has a certain 'je ne sais quois' that colour lacks, and 2) I quite like the hint of pubic hair which is partial masked by the model's right arm.

This is a detail of a braided pattern decoration in a Christian Arabic codex from the 9th/10th century CE (Sinai Ar. 461, f. 25br). I only recently noticed that the scribe used five differently coloured inks for this. It's just stunning how vibrant they still are after more than a millennium.
