A Japanese commercial for Nissan that features not only an original song by Stephen Bishop, but a pre-debut Jennifer Paige as his duet partner. I believe she later did at least one more JDM commercial song for Nissan.

TV Tokyo, the pokemon network, aired Chuck Norris' Delta Force last week and Delta Force 2 this week. Great examples of yees-ray-lee influences masquerading as US patriotic forces. They've been doing this for decades, making America their plaything.

My guess is Clive Davis really, really, really could not stomach when Ace of Base went the same route for the title track from their next era. He abolished it from the US release, but then allegedly did worse by making Linn sing "every time it rains, I get wet" (wet where?)

I've resisted buying Chinese for a very long time because I want people in the marketplace to make stuff the "dumb" or laborious way. I don't want a Chinese gadget domination in the way Jewish creatives have dominated American pop culture for decades. Yes I love Carly Simon, but I also want variety.

I was moved to post about earbuds cos it's been a running theme for years. Japanese engineering always seem like they're wasting excessive effort focusing on the wrong approach.

I'm a big Sony admirer, but $40 Chinese earbuds get me ANC that's sometimes better than their painstaking flagship R&D.

QCY products are generally robust but expect them to expire in a year or two.

They are my favorite Chinese brand at this point, a few years ago the T1/T1C was pretty robust and QCY's house sound was very well-reviewed by Crinacle. Good to see they're doing even better stuff now.

Where you sacrifice with these earbuds is a crappy app. you can't access all features unless you give it every permission it asks for, and register, and let it access location.

You can't completely disable touch controls except with "sleep mode" which resets every time you charge.

I'm over a year late to the party, but QCY Melobuds Pro are really good cheap earbuds. I paid $40 and got 90-100% of the ANC as the Sony WFXM5 (which I have trouble getting a good seal with). These might've just saved me from buying another pair of XM5s which saves me like $150.

I remember always wondering if Spirit was a badly-executed album era, but in retrospect it's a really good album era lol. I caught Jewel live when she toured This Way and looking back now, This Way would've been better had it been more low-key, less plasticky, more like like Spirit.

Hands is Jewel at her best. I think about it on days when my back hurts and I suspect it's my kidney (like hers?) and I get misty-eyed. I think of it when I'm broken and I understand I am never broken. My hands crack very easily from dish soap, but they're not yours they are my own😜🧫

Marti Pellow's 1st solo album is superb. Not just his energy, it's also grounded by Chris Difford who frames him slightly differently. They emerged from rehab with insightful tracks like this that's topped my play count for 24 years.
