I know times have generally changed in the peloton but his margins of victory are eyebrow raising, and there are plenty of characters in the background at UAE with very questionable pasts when it comes to doping. I have no explicit reason to question Pog, and yet, I just have niggly doubts

Downs was clearly not up to the mark well before the end of the transfer window though. There was a window of opportunity where the club could have hedged their bets and brought in a relatively cheap Championship journeyman battering ram and we'd probably be comfortably in the play off positions

The 9th game under Martin ot all clicked and we beat Leeds convincingly. This was obviously nowhere near that level of performance but we also miss the feel good factor and sense of togetherness that Martin brought to the club. Just feels like we're treading water #SaintsFC

Im not a reactionary fan, not calling for anyone's head or anything silly, I get that it all takes time, but its still disappointing & frustrating not to see greener shoots of recovery going into a run of winnable games where we could really build a head of steam. Now 2wks to stew over it #SaintsFC

Good team selection again, Fellows took a knock in training but I'm quite happy to see Fraser return to the starting line-up. Dropping Azaz sends a healthy message that if you don't perform, you lose your place, regardless of your price tag #SaintsFC

Don't get me wrong, I'd absolutely love to see him come back, but can't see us paying his wages (even in the Prem) given his advancing years. Can't see us benching Downes, Charles, Jander or Azaz to make room for him either given the money we've spent

Much better. Missed 2 sitters in the 1st half which cost us. Took the lead in a period where Boro were starting to get a foothold and felt Downes was needed just to wrestle back momentum in the middle, nobody would have moaned if we'd shut up shop for the last 30mins and won 1-0. Onwards #SaintsFC

McCarthy is the better shot stopper, Baz much better with his feet... 6 of one, half dozen of the other. I think McCarthy has a better command of his box though and probably ought to have a run of games to see how he does #SaintsFC

Yeah he was superb, brings an energy and urgency that we lack when he doesnt play. The whole approach was quicker though - passing, pressing, movement. Much more front footed and positive. Jelert settled straight in too, he looked excellent #SaintsFC

Excellent performance, wanted a reaction and got it. I'd start the same team and same formation at the weekend. Only negative (aside for the stupid error for the first goal) was another no show from Damion 'Sékou Mara' Downs, he's not up to it at this level #SaintsFC

Such an irrelevant game. I'd take a 0-2 loss where we look reasonably tidy at the back and vaguely competent going forward. We must avoid getting humiliated though - for the sake of the mood in the dressing room as much as amongst the fans
