I live in an area with a large number of Afrikaans first language speakers. So I rely on Google translate to get the gist of many communications.

In the last few weeks it has told me:

“The child will be caged.”
(Child was grounded.)

“The dog has no ears.”
(The dog is not listening.)

A reminder: AI is a bad translator--it will give you in a pinch the meaning (if it doesn't get hopelessly confused) , but i will not create something that reads like a book.
That's why we have professionals.
(And everyone who's reread ai translations knows that it's faster going to rewrite them)

Starting the final chapter today.

Then I begin editing the mess and the rest of those photographs (they're for a fundraiser).

Think after next week, my daughter and I might just lay back and stare at the ceiling.

(She's finishing her matric exams next week - it's been intense.)

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

I've noticed a massive uptick in the last month or two. They are much better written than in the past.

However, they never mention the book they supposedly spotted/read. Huge red flag.

Real PR people or fans will tell you the title. (I'm sure better scammers will too.)

We did 2 jumps.
I got off. Bowed to the judge.

Then jogged her through the course so she could see every filler.

B/c my daughter & her were going to do it again at a higher height.

And it was still hairy, but my daughter & Ms Renfri did it.

We were given carrots as participation prizes. 7/7

Had Ms Renfri not been so freaked out, I could have done the course easily. I have jumped her higher at home. I canter her and can go into light seat and back with no problem.

But she was so scared. It took 2 people to even get us in the ring and one had to stay. 6/

But time ticks on, and this was it. Show up or miss the chance.

Organisers were very sweet and understanding. I was the oldest woman participate and probably the one with the biggest physical challenges. 5/

I started riding after 40. My body struggled to hold all my loose joints in place as I move on the horse.

It’s been a long, slow process. And while I have come a long way, what I can do at home, while Ms Renfri is relaxed, is very different to dealing with her show personality. 4/

My daughter head’s off to uni in Feb. Local training show was our last chance for mother-daughter equine event.

Ms Renfri had never been to the grounds before. Ms Renfri does not cope well with “new.” Poor horse was trembling when we took her off the truck. 2/
