Brooks Ghost 16, which I hope have not tried to kill you.

Have possibly hunted down the discontinued model in a shop in Tipp, but the confirmation email seems to indicate that they are sending me a 6 not a 6.5 so EVEN MORE CORRESPONDENCE/UNCERTAINTY argh.

Minor wail of anguish in the general scheme of things, but I just replaced my Runners That Actually Work For My Stupid Feet and Brooks have done a new version which Do Not Actually Work For My Stupid Feet.

Might turn myself into some kind of installation for Le Guess Who? if I can get it to work.

Have walked past this building a few times but have never gone in: going to be in Utrecht next month so will be in for a poke around. Look at that ceiling!

Day two of braces, apparently my life is now mostly:
- tooth brushing
- lip balm
- soup

That's a great album. The track with Jenny Hval is super - can also recommend this Kelly Lee Owens mix of hers, which is *savage*:

People are always rightly pointing out that Warhammer contributes more to the British economy than the fishing industry, but the problem is that there just aren't very many folk songs about Warhammer

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Maybe it's time for me to cast aside my usual clothes and start dressing like a cross between an 80s business lady and a nun?
msleedy.bsky.social
I am genuinely shocked at how relatively young she is. Her look seems to be "clothes my mother wore to her children's confirmations in the 80s".
msleedy.bsky.social
That makes her only two years older than me. Bloody hell.

Hmm, and camping chair miniaturization technology has also advanced greatly in recent years....
msleedy.bsky.social
True, though I suspect the walking/standing requirements are still fairly taxing. Unless I can convince someone to propel me about in a wheelbarrow...

I still have fond memories of the man at the cider bus in '92 who took pity on my impoverished self and accepted my argument that my empty two litre bottle was "about a pint".
msleedy.bsky.social
I still like going to festivals but not sure if I could manage the hardcore "five days living in a field on a diet of cider bus cider" quite as well these days.

Post you from another era: 2000, at a festival (Glastonbury), wearing a t-shirt from another festival (ATP), looking up at a picture of a tent I painted at a previous festival.
A woman in an All Tomorrow's Party t-shirt looking up at a picture made up of lots of little jigsaw piece shapes with individual paintings in them. She looks like she might have been living in a field for a while.

I still remember the flat that @spongepaddy.bsky.social and @hibernowombat.bsky.social shared where you could, if required, simultaneously shower, cook, and answer the front door.

I see the Irish Times has a new 'Tip-offs' section.
Screenshot from the Irish Times website. Photo of a concerned-looking man on a beach. Headline reads 'A shortage of gardaí on Ireland's west coast makes it 'wide open' for crime'.
