I’ll never forget the feeling of returning to Tigray, Ethiopia, at the end of the war in 2022, to restart services around Shire and Sheraro. At that time, people would wait for more than a day to see a doctor.

In Tigray, Ethiopia, we have a team supporting people through the psychological trauma they experienced during the region’s conflict.

They are trying to destigmatise care: “We are trying to create the awareness that seeking counselling is normal.”

Nearly 9,500 unaccompanied minors have arrived in Italy so far this year after crossing the Mediterranean. Many of them carry heavy mental trauma.

In Tigray, Ethiopia, stigma is a major barrier for people seeking mental health care.

Many of our patients, like Azmera, were hesitant to receive counselling. Now, she speaks about its benefits: “When I come here, I feel free, calm, and good.”

We’ve concluded our project for migrants in Reynosa and Matamoros, Mexico. We see the legacy of this project in the care provided to thousands of people, and in “strengthening care models that can be replicated in other contexts of mobility and violence.”

On 30 September, a powerful 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck central Philippines, claiming at least 72 lives and injuring hundreds more.  

📍 Just a day later, our teams reached remote communities in northern Cebu to  distribute safe drinking water.

@msf.org is sharing shocking statistics about the need for trauma care in Port-au-Prince, Haiti – not a new feature since I was there in 2010 but staggering in scale today.

Between Jan and June, our teams assisted 2,600 survivors of sexual violence:

After 7 years of continuous care, we're finishing our project for victims and survivors of sexual violence in Maniema, Democratic Republic of Congo.

The model of care we developed for the area is effective, and “must not disappear with [our] departure.”

Since 2019, we treated 16,000+ victims and survivors of sexual violence in the Salamabila region of Maniema, Democratic Republic of Congo. Our project is ending this month, and we are urging that survivors have continuity of holistic care:

We’ve concluded our work in Bombali, Sierra Leone, after 5 years of providing care for tuberculosis. Between 2020 and 2025, we:
