now you can take part in one of many writing challenges any time of the year, but NaNo was special. it's not just nostalgia, it was a really great time & everyone was doing it together at the same time. it was "nanowrimo season". it's not the same /shrug

oh wow nanowrimo.org is gone. what a crash & burn. people wanna be all big and say "good riddance" like they're so high & mighty, but it still makes me really sad. "just do another challenge" nah. the fact that it was the ubiquitous challenge everyone was going made it easier & more fun.

folks can complain about the effectiveness of scheduled orderly mass protest but to think about it another way its the closest thing we have to the opening scene of A Muppet Christmas Carol where all the muppets sing "there goes Mr. Dipshit, there goes Mr. Ass" to Scrooge and it clearly bothered him
