There is no true love of space without love of this Earth and the life upon it. As we look up at the stars with awe, may we always extend our hands to one another in committed solidarity for the life and freedom of all who may be oppressed and downtrodden upon this world.

Better is possible.

The United States is in material breach of over five hundred - yes, 500 - legally binding treaties with Indigenous nations.

And lest you say that's because of Trump, we were in breach of at least 350 under both of the last two Democratic administrations.

So yes, we are an illegal occupation.
Conquering and colonization is the way people acquired land at that time in history. It was uncivilized and involved violence and yet that's how land was acquired.

You fought over it and, if you won, it became yours. I acknowledge that's how America came to be. I also acknowledge colonization was a bad thing for indigenous populations.

But I think you're reaching pretty far to try to claim America is an ongoing illegal occupation in present day.

Likely a good call. While patiently exploring the various parts of yourself can be quite helpful, intentionally pursuing the creation of other identities just for fun can be hurtful and not a game.

People's mindsets are more malleable than they often think. So being respectful of ourselves is wise.

The brain adapts in many ways to handle what we face in life, and while many people can compartmentalize or repress without much issue, some neurodivergent people or people facing great sudden or sustained trauma have things so fractured that their parts develop distinct identities.

Tulpas are still a thing, but matters have changed over time where more people became aware of DID and plurality.

So, while it is true that with great effort someone's brain can incorporate a created identity, the most common causes of having varied identities are major trauma and neurodivergence.

If you identify the genesis of US fascism as Trump’s entrance into politics, your analysis will fail every time. Fascism didn’t come to the US—it was born here! In the garrison-colonies of the British and Spanish, in the genocidal westward expansion, in the slave ships bringing misery and wealth.

I love yall discussing tanks in these replies.

Riiight? Oh my gosh. Propaganda films are a heck of a thing. Really interesting how government investment fed into early animation production across the world at the time. Then even more so in the post war era, trying to influence popular narratives.

That's really cool! The Fuku-chan films are interesting, even if they're no Momotarō no Umiwashi.

Black Lagoon is a genuine classic. It is diverse in its characters and stories, full of cool and fun action, bitter toward the callousness of the comfy global north, derisive of soulsucking corporations, and deeply critical of past and present colonial exploitation.

To my recall, Nazis in Indiana Jones were always a mix. The bit was more that they'd be an intimidating threat and then Indie embarrasses them with his cleverness. It does contrast a bit from many Nazi portrayals, like in Black Lagoon where they're introduced as bloviating, weepy little fools.

The Fuku-chan films of the Imperial Japan era are quite a time capsule.

It's an absolute all timer that I definitely did not think of when something recently happened in the news.

That is possible, but research is ongoing on how lasting the damage is from Covid. I hope that whether it is the cause or not, you find some relief in the future and the personal patience and understanding you deserve. 💜

This seems like the perfect time to bring up an all time favorite scene from Black Lagoon 20 years ago mocking Nazis as creepy, bloviating idiots.

Creed is genuinely so good. As you said, it really reminded me of what I loved in Rocky.

One of the most frequent issues people face is diminished dexterity, reactions, and focus, and big factors in what changes people are the lasting impacts of disability and how people are treated because of it. It would be so welcome if there was more compassionate public discussion of brain damage.
moonbreeze.bsky.social
Some level of brain damage is a bit more common than people think, via different accidents, birth defects, and conditions, but it's so stigmatized that it's difficult for many people to talk about more without being dehumanized.
