TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL (2010) dir. Eli Craig

Has real “he hates these cans” energy.
This is why I’ve cried at the end of this movie, the last 3 times I’ve seen it.
Family isn’t about blood. It’s the bonds that are forged through shared experiences.

Loved OPPOSABLE THUMBS! Looking forward to the next book, whatever it will be.
I loved One Battle After Another’s ending on first viewing, but the second time around I realized *how much* is going on in that scene beyond it being a really great car chase. So I had to write something about the brilliance of The River of Hills

I will watch anything with Nic Frost.
There’s a couple of movies shot/set in my hometown and it’s neat to be able to look at those time capsules every now and then.

FRIDAY THE 13TH PART V: A NEW BEGINNING (1985) dir. Danny Steinmann

No one with crimped hair in 1985 ever had an Alan Parsons Project poster on their ceiling.
He and his wife got a house so cheap in Wisconsin that he was working at a used bookstore doing chalk art for the sidewalk sandwich board everyday up until Covid. Then he quit and I don’t think he’s had a “job” since.
He’s gonna be like Vivian Maier. Someday he’ll die and his 100,000 pieces of art will make him posthumously famous and make other people rich. But he’s happy now so I guess that’s all that matters.
Makes sense. I didn’t think Tower would let him put his own covers on the rental shelves. 😜
Was it Tower Video on Sunset where you worked with him?
Yeah, he wasn’t on any social media ever but fairly recently created the_emily_dickinzine on Instagram and has been posting tons of art from his last 10+ years in Wisconsin.
That’s awesome! I almost scrolled past this but recognized my brother’s art before I saw his name in the post.

THE MIST (2007) dir. Frank Darabont

Drew Struzan tribute done right: while alive.
My favorite Drew Struzan poster is ADEVENTURES IN BABYSITTING. After paying for the “poster,” Disney also paid for the original artwork for their archives, then 19 years later was purging their archives and were going to trash the original. But the guy in charge knew Struzan and gave it back to him.
YESSSSS! It pays to read all the way to the end of @fthismovie.bsky.social columns.
