Overcast Dunbar and Bass Rock, the gloom only adds to its beauty imo
Seascape sand in foreground, sea, and then a lump of rock known as the Bass Rock. Seabird colony. Overcast grey late afternoon.

Och I’m a day late, sorry.
Just finished this book which I first read in the mid ‘80’s. I have to confess I skipped over the abattoir chapters this time as well. It shouts of the difficulties of being working class and a creative. I got frustrated by Mat at times, and felt sorry for Helen, his wife.
Book cover showing a background of tenement flats, a tree, a bird, a bell and a fish (this is the Glasgow coat of arms). In the foreground is a young man shirt sleeves rolled up, arms leaning on a desk one arm bent and fist resting on his brow. There is an open notebook and a pen on the desk.
This book contains one finished novel ‘The Dear Green Place’ and an unfinished story ‘Fur Sadie’ both by author Archie Hind.

I always see this as a woman wearing a headscarf. Somewhere near St Abbs.
Stone archway entrance with a head at the top, partially obscured by vines. Trees sit behind. Black and white photo.

When Angus Council said Edzell’s 2012 flood caused “minimal” damage, locals disagreed. They formed a flood group, pulled their own figures, and got organised. Here’s what happened next: theferret.scot/new-a...
A leafless tree stands in the middle of floodwater, its bare branches spreading wide against the grey surface of the water. White text overlay reads: “It takes a village: a new approach to living with flooding.”

Nigel Farage says Glasgow is the “asylum capital of the UK” — housing 50% more “illegal” migrants than any other area. Ferret Fact Service dug into the numbers. The verdict? Mostly False.

I met Leon in Castletown this morning. What a man! He’s walking the NC500, raising funds for Mind. Tragically, his partner took her life last year and he struggles with poor mental health and drug addiction. He has a YouTube channel and would love to share his message. youtube.com/shorts/2lmrU...

Just about to start this for my library book group.
Book cover title Clarice Lispector ‘House of the Star.
Image shows to the left side a naked female torso with a section cut out over left breast showing a red heart. The right side of the cover has some sketchings including upside down v a rear view of human figure drawn in pencil with some dashes like tailors chalk.
