When we brought Cleo home as a kitten back in 2000, I inadvertently stumbled on a wise strategy: cats get fed _after_ the human gets out of the shower and gets dressed. Training the cats on this has made it much easier to sleep in for any reason.

A fine is a price. Fines should always exceed revenues for the act being fined. And if a corporation commits a crime that would put a human in prison, its shares should go to prison and be voted by the justice system, dividends going to the government. That would improve incentives.

For 18 years, I had a silver tabby named Yeti; he’s in my profile picture. At one point I was explaining Runequest’s notion of heroquesting to a friend and had to make up some mythology on the spot, so the story had a “mithril tabby” in it. And I needed a unique username.
