I can not understand why we have to work hard to maintain understandings that are so obvious when even a tiny thought gets put behind them. Like these images. What you SEE in them says more about yourself than the people in them or the artist presenting them. Pay attention to how they get labelled.

The art and the artist:
I mostly work from photographs. I mostly work from my OWN photos or photos given to me by others for the express purpose of artwork. That isn't always feasible of course and sometimes I do projects where I do studies of others' works.
The vast majority is nude human body.

The world is in such an awful place right now. The US gleefully turning into a totalitarian state, Europe on he verge of cancelling privacy altogether, Russia looking more and more like destroying the entire planet in its death throes... But even despite all that, this is how I achieve peace.

And men staying at home and being the primary caregiver is JUST AS EFFECTIVE. As is having the right tertiary care in the vastly more necessary situation of both parents needing to work. This doesn't even touch on the countless other variations of family units..

Harmful to both mother AND children. It's sexist, allows proliferation of abuse, and sends the message that men are both inherently more powerful and to be obeyed. This doesn't mean that a woman staying at home BY CHOICE is inherently wrong, as long as they are fully autonomous in this decision.

A 'mother', his statement HAD to add the extremely sexist and patriarchal idea of a woman 'belonging' in the home. Outside of ANY idea of parental/child relationship health, this is its own horrific and dangerous statement. Research also shows that the woman subservient to the family model is...

When pushed, he and his friends and some other make cousins acted all innocent and hurt. 'What's wrong with children being with their moms?' they batted their poor little me eyes with. As if that was what the statement was.
We've had decades upon decades of research at this point...

MLP also brings up something I heard about today. A cousin of mine in good ol' Alberta posted this to Facebook: 'It's good to see so many moms at home with their children where they belong'. He rightly got some angry push back, but doubled down. (I don't have Facebook but heard it from other family)

This is a fuller version of one of the drawings I posted when I first started doing these reposts. It was this drawing that drew the ire of my sister-in-law that demanded I stop drawing naked children with adults, as if it was somehow inherently creepy and wrong... Sorry lady, it's neither.

I'm more an audiobook person these days. If I ever manage to get a job again, I'll look into it. I did read a lot of side blogs on his pre-1930s life, but mostly iffy opinion stuff. Not accredited historians.

It's weird. Sometimes as you get better at a skill, you first have to... Get worse... At a skill. Or, more accurately, your improvement process can be a little rough as you learn new things, but implement them poorly at first. This drawing is a reflection of that. Poor proportion, rough lines, etc
