Fortunately I didn't say exactly what I thought out loud!

I guess it's a bit more complicated when building bridges etc but there are so many disruptions it's not a service

Just ride your bike. It's all going to turn to custard around here soon.

"The Werribee Line will be crossing-free by 2030".

What about the crossings on the Altona loop? 🤔
Civic Parade Seaholme
Pier Street Altona
Grieve Parade Altona
Maidstone Street Altona (at Westona station)

Or will we be on some other line?

Almost 6 months of disruptions for Altona loop passengers.

😢😭
Upcoming works on inner-west level crossing removals
We’re removing the level crossing at Maddox Road by building rail bridges over the road and closing the level crossing at Champion Road. We’ll also build a new link road, connecting Maddox Road to Champion Road via Akuna Drive.

In November, we'll:

continue building the new rail bridges and walking and cycling bridges at Maddox and Champion roads
remove passenger rail tracks
continue signalling and drainage works
install beams in the rail corridor near Newport
To allow us to work safely, buses will replace trains on sections of the Werribee and Williamstown lines from 8.30pm, Thursday 13 November to last service, Sunday 16 November.

Work will also continue on removing the Maidstone Street, Altona level crossing during this time.

From Monday 17 November until late April 2026, there will be service changes on the Werribee Line.

Read our news item to find out more.

Five level crossings are going for good in Melbourne’s inner west, at Newport, Altona, Spotswood and Yarraville, making the Werribee Line boom gate free by 2030.

Werribee Line changes during major works
To keep the Werribee Line moving, trains will run on a single track between Newport and Laverton from Monday 17 November to late April 2026.

Running the trains in this way ensures passenger services on the busy Werribee Line can continue to operate during major works, reducing the need for bus replacement services.

Passengers travelling to the city from Seaholme, Altona and Westona will travel by shuttle bus to Newport Station, where they can continue their journey to the city by train.

Trains will run as normal along the Altona Loop for passengers travelling from the city.

Dear whoever in Hobsons Bay who decided it was a good idea to set up an off-lead dog area on a shared path

🤦‍♀️

The other path was closed or I would have used it

While the media and political class fixate on tinkering with superannuation, a new report finds that 1 in 7 Australians are living in #poverty.

And it's 1 in 6 children.

In such a wealthy nation, this is an obscene policy choice. #inequality #RaiseTheRate #auspol

Deep dive into the surge in US pedestrian deaths:

"It’s not that more pedestrians are getting hit by vehicles; it’s that the ones that are getting hit are more likely to die."

"[That] seems like fairly strong evidence for the theory that the rise in large SUVs is behind the uptick in ped deaths."
Why Are So Many Pedestrians Killed by Cars in the US?
It’s unfortunately not uncommon for pedestrians to be killed by cars in the US.

The word "accident" really shouldn't be used in such pieces

We need to be honest on climate movement. We are failing.

- The temperature keeps rising.
- True problem is structural, NOT individual behavior!
- Industry has masterfully marketed individual's fault.
- Collective civic action to change policy
- Say pollution, not emissions

Rest and recovery leads to improvements. I have a rest day tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it.

I guess there's potential for improvement, unlike on the Altona loop.

Dr Jane Goodall filmed an interview in March 2025 with the understanding it would only be released after her death. This is her final message.

It was. He's had fairly major surgery and is waiting on a diagnosis. Not sure this is going to end well but taking it one day at a time.
