On Saturday, @boakandbailey.bsky.social unearthed 1974 BBC video of Hook Norton—an amazing document, and not just for the reasons you might imagine. The brewery, then as today one of the most traditional in the UK, was making some interesting beer that sheds a lot of light on the way things change.

Scotia Bar for beer and weekend live music, Laurieston for a 1960s feel, Pot Still for real ale served from air fonts, Bon Accord for a good range of beers and, a bit further out, the Three Judges at Partick is well worth a look-in.

Feel free to use this if persistent stains remain.
I know but there are many Oktoberfest beers and I prefer them from well establshed still independent Bavarian breweries.
If you think any of those are the best 3 Oktoberfest beers, I'll start worrying about you.
Big fan of Augustiner beers and will be back at the Keller in January, hopefully. There's nothing like their beers from the wood!
Indeed. I'm on Harvey's excellent beers in London at the moment and hope to be again on Friday night.
Thanks for the tip. I've just toured it for £12. Fascinating vessel, replica or not.

I will remind people that in the late 20's and early 30's Hitler's thugs marched through the streets of Germany doing whatever they liked and the Media covered for them.

Soon after Adolf Hitler was dictator.

We have seen this all before.
I lived in Basel for 20 years before moving back to England. My family is still there (my son was born and bred there so I get back to visit every now and again). I know at least one American there, too (he married an English girl).
You never get a full Maß, either. It's been a tourist rip-off for years now, although it started as an event for the locals.
Bar when other breweries' beers have disappeared from the area, e.g. Reitter and to some extent Riegeler.
I toured the brewery a few weeks ago and also had lunch there. I can buy bottles of the Pils and Hefeweizen locally here in England and have been a fan of the beers since living in Basel in the 80s and 90s. I agree it's far more readily available now than it was then but I'd rather see this on the
I was there a couple of weeks ago, albeit sitting outside on the Terrace. Nothing beats a Maß of Edelstoff from the wood!
It's complete nonsense. I've been using Eurostar since soon after the service started, in 1994. Initially, the only high speed track available for it was in France. I well remember the Waterloo terminal - and operations only moved to St. Pancras when the British high speed line (HS1) was completed.

The ECHR creates a backstop of legal appeals against changes to UK Laws.

Without it the Government could scrap the State Pension, Minimum Wage, Working Hour Limits and Paid Holiday in 1 day and there is nothing you could do.

This is exactly what Farage would do.
