Springer dinger! That’s how to start a series.

This group, particularly all four forward lines and the top D pair, is quite something. Incredibly deep.

#NHLJets coach Scott Arniel wouldn't rule out Haydn Fleury for Monday's game in New York against the Islanders. Said he's dealing with a bruise after blocking a shot with his knee Saturday. Kale Clague up as a precaution, they don't want to IR Fleury, so Brad Lambert had to be sent down to make room
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
Now heading out onto the ice for a skate once the #NHLJets practice is over: Adam Lowry…and Dylan Samberg.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
#NHLJets forward lines unchanged from Saturday’s game. Parker Ford the extra.

On D, Logan Stanley now with Neal Pionk. Colin Miller, playing his off-side, is with Luke Schenn. Kale Clague the extra.

No Connor Hellebuyck out here. Presumably just a maintenance day.

#NHLJets on the ice for a quick skate before they get on the bird and fly to New York.

2-game road trip starts Monday afternoon.

Haydn Fleury (knee) is not skating. Kale Clague has been recalled from the #MBMoose. And Brad Lambert has been sent down to create a roster spot.

Today's #NHLJets attendance: 14,204. That ends a streak of 16 consecutive sellouts for Winnipeg (15,225) dating back to the last 8 regular-season games of last season, all 7 playoff games and Thursday's season-opener.

#NHLJets hang on for a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Los Angeles.

1-1-0 on the year.

Mark Scheifele 2G, Alex Iafallo 1G, Connor Hellebuyck 29 saves.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
#NHLJets survive the Neal Pionk penalty plus an extended period of 6-on-5 play in their own end. A couple big saves by Connor Hellebuyck and huge shot blocks from Logan Stanley and Dylan DeMelo.

17 seconds left. Tanner Pearson called for tripping. 3-2 Winnipeg. 6-on-4 LA.

#NHLJets, up 3-2 with 3:30 left in the 3rd, will now have to kill a penalty as Neal Pionk called for what was essentially a bodyslam.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
Mark Scheifele with a perfect tip of a Josh Morrissey point shot and the #NHLJets are back in front, 3-2 with 8:13 left.

That's some incredible hand-eye from Scheifele, who is up to 5 points already on the season.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
#NHLJets could be in some more hurt here as Haydn Fleury left the game in the 2nd period after a painful shot block, tried to skate just before the start of the 3rd and went back to the room.

The only extra D on the roster right now is Colin Miller, and he's a righty.

Mark Scheifele ties the game on a shorthanded rush. The goal comes right after Kyle Connor's penalty had just ended, so it will officially be an even strength goal. Scheifele actually banked that in off Kings defenceman Mikey Anderson as he was falling to the ice.

The #NHLJets power kill continues. Two great shorthanded chances after potting a pair of shorties in Thursday's season opener.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
And now the #NHLJets will be shorthanded for the first time today, having already seen a 1-0 lead turn into a 2-1 deficit.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
Adrian Kempe puts the #NHLJets in a hole for the first time today, finishing off a terrific three-way passing play to give Los Angeles a 2-1 lead with 10:48 left in the 2nd.

The visitors have really turned on the jets since the first half of the first period.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
Los Angeles ties it just 50 seconds into the 2nd period as Mikey Anderson's shot through a maze of traffic beats Connor Hellebuyck. 1-1.

Third straight power play for the #NHLJets here in the first period. They've earned them, too. Score is 1-0, shots are 12-2 with 6:50 left.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
Logan Stanley crushes Alex Turcotte with a big clean hit, and then Jeff Malott and Luke Schenn drop the gloves for a brief but heavy tilt that Schenn gets the better of.
mikemcintyrewpg.bsky.social
1-0 #NHLJets as they score their first PP goal of the season. Alex Iafallo finishes off a beauty passing sequence that included Kyle Connor and Gabe Vilardi.
