Shropshire Council deputy leader has confirmed that the Castle Street two way cycleway (in red) has being axed from Shrewsbury's Station Gyratory changes.

Disappointing but not entirely surprised, the project seemed to be a bit of a hot mess. Lets do it properly next time.
I'm guessing this is what the council mean by priority. Via www.greatercambridge.org.uk/asset-librar...

Yep. I'm surprised they didn't cover up the cycle signs, 5 months is a long time.

The kerb segregation they've put in near the floating bus stop looks chunky so I'm hopeful the rest is good quality. 👀
The thing is the team behind this event isn't from "Haughmond Hill", they'll be driving from Shrewsbury etc. Parkrun needs a more defined ethos that offers guidance to people setting up events.
The information in my original screenshot should have been enough for someone at HQ to veto the venue.
I believe this one was setup by the same group that organised the Severn Valley parkrun, which is slightly less remote and averages about 100 people.
I'm not aware of any plans for more.
Wouldn't it make more sense to focus on the ~40% of Shropshire living in urban environments? At least make sure the venue is accessible to a local community?
If someone is going to drive anyway then they've already got a load of options available to them.
The organisers have suggested they're expecting an average of about 50-100 people and they'll probably cancel the event when Shrewsbury or Telford aren't on. 🤷‍♂️
For the record: I like Haughmond Hill. It's a nice place, especially in the spring with the bluebells. I can see the attraction of hosting it there over of a suburban recreation ground or doing laps around a cycle track.

Just frustrating to see a lack of vision from the parkrun movement.
Shropshire now has 7 parkruns, only 3 are in urban areas. The rest are attached to tourist attractions that only serve the people who drive to them.
Shropshire has a new parkrun. Great! Shame its inaccessible to anyone outside a car. 👎
Shropshire's first parallel crossing. 🎉
It'll be interesting to see how well used this route becomes.
Definitely a few where I'm conditioned to wait for the junction phasing instead of pressing the button. Bloody gyratories.
Reform voted against the biochar plant in Ludlow citing Tice's tweets as a risk assessment! Its an industrial project that will benefit the local economy but all she read is "carbon credits" youtu.be/92NqyssPRAI?...

I'm sure people will moan about the loss of free parking spaces but really hard to justify them when there is a large 80p/h car park nearby.
Shrewsbury greening scheme looks promising. Hopefully a road diet to undo some of the mistakes Thomas Telford made 200 odd years ago.

Six things I like about Cambridge’s new Eddington district: why it's a good example that other developments should follow.
We have some in Shropshire, they're disconnected and most of the signs are looking a bit sad now.

CPRE has some information on them. I think the legislation is nearly 20 years old, it would be interesting to see if they've had a positive effect. www.cpre.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Something's occurring.....
I reckon they'll inspire some kids too.
Worth listening to Julian's comments and the council officer's response - essentially they won't consider Active Travel England's suggestions for this *town centre* development until the use for each plot is defined. It speaks of #motonormativity. youtu.be/0MJrnF2FlBs?...

Bravo to @juliandean99.bsky.social for discussing active travel shortfalls at today's planning committee meeting.👏 Amendment to have a "framework travel plan" for Shrewsbury's Riverside development approved.
Yes I don't think it should be live yet. Seems to be a thing with these works.
I believe this is Shropshire's first bike traffic light
