Still waiting for the Great Leap Forward. Music is my main love. Well music, food, the dog, photography, whisky….did I mention food?

The dB’s. stands for decibels
A perfect slice of power pop. Essential.

If you get the chance to see Stewart Copeland on his book tour then I’d urge you to go. He’s a funny and engaging raconteur. A really fun evening in Bristol
Huge influence on youthful me.
Black Uhuru, any of the late 70s early 80s albums. Same for Aswad. Also Handsworth Revolution by Steel Pulse. 😀
A debut album and an only album. Loved this bunch back then….post punk folk horror from Worcestershire #5debutalbums8084

I really enjoyed The Ballad of Wallis Island. Hope that’s ok.
Rays Jazz is more Rays broom cupboard these days ☹️. I think they still have monthly live jazz events tho.

These are the Bristol prices if you want to steel yourself…
Ah good luck! I could always forward the email I got but I suspect the decent seats have all gone, Friday should be ok!
Got mine for Bristol. I got the front row upstairs for a view of the 3d stuff. Didn’t fancy £200 for a ticket near the stage. 😀
Only when I go to Barberellas
#5debutalbums8084. Lord I loved this band. The Photos eponymous first album. Perfect power pop.

Gosh it’s been years since I heard Bread, I think my parents had the ‘best of’ that was in every house in the 70s. They must be due a reappraisal so we can all claim that we loved them all along…
Finally caught up with 28 Years Later. Wow. I really enjoyed it, much better than I was expecting. Though that ‘what the chuff’ ending was a bit odd.
It does some interesting stuff, especially with Daniel Mays character.
I’d forgotten this was on. Thanks! Just watching Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue
Thanks. Somehow I missed this!
Another great evening @rnrbook-club.bsky.social with Kevin Rowland.

This is sad news. Mersey Sound was the first poetry book I bought, and the few times our paths crossed he was lovely and funny. RIP Brian Patten
Liverpool poet Brian Patten dies at 79
His poetry often explored love and relationships and he wrote books for children including Gargling With Jelly

Today’s discovery which I guess you all know about already…a spiritual jazz/funk/experimental record from the 70s ‘A Spirit Speaks’ by The Descendants of Mike & Phoebe…put together by Bill Lee, Spike Lee’s dad. Wonderful album that is added to my digging list…
