I’m so ready to join you for the multipart investigation into this gem of a film and its signature coiffure.

Okay, but we can all agree that Linda Blair’s hair in SUMMER OF FEAR is a phenomenon unto itself, right?

I thought it would be fun to fold some classic YA horror into my Halloween reading line-up, so I snagged a few NIGHTMARE HALL titles from a used bookseller...only to find this study hall note tucked within the pages. This note is 30 years old! What a treasure. I hope her speech class went okay!
A copy of Diane Hoh's NIGHTMARE HALL: BOOK OF HORRORS Scholastic paperback. The artwork features a young woman in a dark red turtleneck fending off a raven. The book sits on a desk. Next to the book is a piece of notebook paper with a note dated 4-13-95 on it. The note reads:
"Kelly,
Hi! Katal? I'm in SH and I'm bored! If you can think of any 30 second jokes (clean) send them to me because I need one for speech next quarter, OK? I'm making $ again! I got $23 this weekend. Fri, Sat, and Sun! Plus I get 5 tonight and every other Mon night this winter!"

LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR is a transgressive, challenging all-timer. It’s the kind of cinema that hits the screen with a subtle ferocity that demands to be discussed after the credits have rolled.

Truly one of the genre's most stalwart MVPs.

The second one is pretty bananas as well, albeit in a very different way.

There’s a time for 976-EVIL and there’s a time for 976-EVIL II…and it’s important to know the difference.

A thoroughly fantastical movie poster for the release of 1968’s “Planet Of The Apes” in The Socialist Republic of Romania.

This WAS after I ordered! It's in the bread narrative!

To be clear, I will eat both. Gladly. Enthusiastically.

Also, if you're wondering why I know so much about bread, allow me to tell you about growing up around the presence of old Italians.

If your menu says ciabatta, but you bring me focaccia, I will notice! These are not the same! There's a difference in structural integrity! One is from ancient Rome! The other was created in the 80s as a response to baguettes! Both are powerful and tasty, but some sandwiches can only support one!

I read ZOMBIE SPACESHIP WASTELAND just last year...and this particular chapter stuck with me. It's definitely required reading for anyone in a creative space who has been met with...unfavorable...exhibition circumstances.
