For academics though these should be attitudes trained into the core of everything we do. Im not disagreeing wiyh you but pointimg out that the credulity suggests an abandonment of basic orientations taught from year 1 undergrad.

In a way.but also it cant fit the signifiers as it has no strong track records, doesnt cite sources, doesnt tell you how conclusion was arrived at, doesnt say when doesnt know, isnt responsible for what it says etc etc

This just isn’t true. Not only is refusing to teach a significant disruption, it also has a financial cost. When @newcastleucu.bsky.social took action this year, the university paid out £2.4m in compensation to students.

A problem UCU has to contend with is that academics have no leverage over management in UK HE.

Refusing to teach or mark is no problem for senior management, as they can bypass academic roles.

In fact, they are itching to sell degrees without any substantive academic involvement.

So many Australian colleagues put through a year of worries and uncertainty. All because Nous Consultancy only thrives on a scarcity narrative?

Bit if a reminder that those cuts can never be justified in pedagogical or academic term, whatever the spin.
