Making a thread of reactions (with data, plots and/or clips) to all sorts of NBA free agency moves to keep it all in one place:

1. The Holiday/Simons trade
bsky.app/profile/memp...
🏀🧵One of those trades that is surprisingly interesting, even if we knew Boston was likely to move Jrue Holiday.

Celtics and Blazers have different goals for next season and in pursuing them, they trade polar opposite types of players for the same position.

Way too early overaction:

After 2 games, the Toronto Raptors have a 25.9% 3-point frequency - worst in the league.

How does this team keep getting more cramped?! I can support Scottie taking less threes. But why is RJ down 2 attempts per game? Why is Ingram also down 2?!
I'm going to have to be fair and eat some crow. Kuminga has not executed everything perfectly, but the effort in making the right call every time and playing to the benefit of the system has taken a huge leap. And he's earned playing as a starter so far.

Agreed, he was great.

I think this year will probably clarify a lot of those re-draft positions. Just as an example, Walker has been a bit of a late bloomer while Bilal had a great Year 1 but it's unclear if he can even reach that level again, much less grow from it. Right now, I'd have no idea.
Algumas das comparações estaísticas que foram usadas🤓
It's what will grant him a ton of minutes with Carlisle.

Communicated well on defense and, on to of that, he looked smooth and confident when required to make a shot happen.

I think this might be the year he finally establishes himself. I hope I'm right.
🏀🎞️Jarace Walker had 13 PTS + 4 AST in the loss to OKC.

Walker is showing great ability to make lighting-fast reads alongside accurate passing.

Huge for him because these are high-level flashes of exactly what isn't intuitive for some of the Pacers forwards:

🏀🎞️ Jaylen Clark only played 16 minutes in the Timberwolves season opener and I was already being selective in order to not make too long of a clip about his defensive film.

My agenda is real and lives on with great health!

🏀🎞️Cedric Coward got to play his first NBA Regular season game and came off the bench to the tune of 14 points and 3 'stocks' in 22 minutes.

He had a game-high +24 which sure stands out so I wanted to look at some of his main possessions:

But it's clear he has the tools to bother even a guy as twitchy as Poole.

Very encouraging debut overall. Seems like a great fit in this wing rotation with guys like Wells and KCP.

It's always fun to get to "discover" these rookies at the start of a new season.
[7/7]
I think you can see how he needs better body control for example in this foul, as he tries to get over a screen.
[6/7]
Maybe a couple of moments where Jordan Poole got enough daylight from him. Coward seems to have very wide motions that can get leave him in positions where he'll rely exclusively on his wingspan to recover.
[5/7]
Plus, this is a real impressive display of reach as he erases a drive by Herb Jones.
[4/7]
That wingspan is producing the expected results because he can get his hands in actions and trigger the type of defense-to-offense loops that he benefits from.
[3/7]
Coward already gives this Grizzlies team a bump in pace. He gets out early and aggressively. Showed good touch around the basket when he was met there by the defender.

Out of his 5 makes on the night, ALL were at the rim AND in transition!

Simply from the NBA stats page, the 3-headed hydra of the wings (Ausar, Ron and Green) combined for 7 'stocks' and were credited with 8 turnovers. This is from 3 players that combined for around 27 minutes in total.

Give the people what they want!
I'm a sicko for batshit defensive lineups and the Detroit Pistons played 4 possessions of Ausar Thompson, Javonte Green, Ron Holland and Paul Reed all together in the opener last night.

This feels like it was built specifically for me and I want them to keep going for it.
🏀Desmond Bane had his Magic season debut.

And if he matched up to expectations in one department right away, is that we saw the high pull up volume and effectiveness we would expect from him given his history.

He went 4-8 on pull ups with an 68.8 eFG%.
I had never seen VJ Edgecombe play before last night... Now I want to see him play all the time.

The burst on this guy and the fluidity he has (while at high speed and exploding vertically) is just stupid.
There is no better league than this one, I feel sorry for those who aren't on this ride.
Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups has been arrested by the FBI for alleged illegal gambling, sources tell ESPN.
🏀🎞️Some niche stuff...

Day'Ron Sharpe with a weird start to the season, mixing 5 turnovers and 5 fouls in 14 minutes with also scoring one point per minute.

There was some awkwardness to the screening game with Martin on this night. Screening still needs work.
🏀📊 As long as Desmond Bane has been in his 2nd season, the Orlando Magic have not rostered a player that can compete with him in terms of self-created shooting.

Bane is now making his debut for Orlando on the NBA's League Pass Opening Night
