And then we began the long process of making, implementing and revising character sprites. This led to a little bit of an awkward adolescent period where the game had rough, unfinished sprites for awhile. The end result was worth it though!

It wasn't a ton of money, but it was a start. Around the same time artist @alanmcmillian.bsky.social was looking for a developer to collaborate with, and I liked his art style a lot. Talking to him, I was immediately impressed by his enthusiasm and work ethic.

#MKD has made many big steps forward, the amount of polish and little touches to the gameplay have really fleshed out what was already a strong base gameplay.

I highly recommend checking it out if you want to try a fighting game that does something different.

If you play fighting games, this game is a fun way to break up your routine, and a hell of a love letter to the genre.
If you don't play fighting games, this game is a creative, beginner-friendly way to teach you about a lot of the fundamentals of the genre.

So maybe it's not a big surprise that fans of a "turn taking" game like VF might like a turn based fighter with similar RPS situations. If you're good at VF, you might also be good at this game.

It's a bit of an oversimplification, but VF has a lot of strong "rock paper scissors" situations: attacks are throw immune, blocking ends the attacker's "turn", and throws will catch a blocking player. This "three structure" exists in all fighting games, but it's especially clear in VF.
