By now it sounds to me like the best solution for the #Ruby community would be to dissolve @rubycentral.org and redirect the funds used to maintain the rubygems.org service to another organization not involving the RC members.
The whole show was one large f'-up. I lost faith in Ruby Central to be a trustworthy steward and am relieved they no longer have the GH ownership of these projects.

Would handing those back to the former maintainers/owners still be an option? Didn't most of them declare to no longer work on them?
What if you are unsure if the banana slug wants to go to the left or right side?

Placing it on the wrong side might set it back by hours, make it miss all its appointments, and only lead to it trying to cross the same path again. 🤔
While right, I assume transferring stewardship from Ruby Central to Ruby Core is the try to regain trust of the community after this fuck-up. I personally do feel it will be in good hands there.

I also find the term 'stolen' debatable, as those projects were imo under stewardship before already.

Having met with both sides on the current RubyCentral/RubyGems situation, here's my take:

- RubyCentral have managed this exceptionally poorly in many ways including removing literally the most active member of the RubyGems organisation by mistake who has declined to return
Unfortunately the board member from Africa feels pretty much out of the loop with current developments and like only learning about decisions after the fact, not like being consulted. If you feel different about that, then the communication flows in your org might need improvement.
The #BlueSky app logged me out many weeks ago and... I neither logged in for weeks, nor did I miss it.

I didn't even use any other social media in that time... is it still alive?

Anyhow, visiting #Euruko2025 the next days, so I need to be on the socials.
I've just been in London. Some trains were delayed due to the closing of a tunnel. On a sign they apologized for "maintenance work in the 175 years old tunnel".

So London built tunnels for trains in / before 1850.

Yeah, a friend who visited me in Barcelona let me know that she is living as a vegan nowadays, so I selected some vegan restaurants for her. She ended up having tapas with jamon and pulpo, as she is only living as a vegan *in Germany / at home* but enjoys local food when travelling. 😂
Do you (sometimes) miss anything?
My current tooling for Ruby inserts curly braces whenever I type a # inside of double-quotes. But it gets confused in ERB.

I could also live with a reliable shortcut.
For the string interpolation I would already be happy, if I'd get the proper suggestions/autocompletion of "#{}

My current tooling regularly fumbles those up inside of ERB tags.
Related: I'd love code suggestions that free me from ever typing the percentage % sign or closing tags myself 😊

And sensible support for string interpolation inside ERB tags.
Are you satisfied with the results?

I use DuckDuckGo, but often revert to back to Google.
Unfortunately I won't be able to attend @brightonruby.com 😢 If anyone is interested in my ticket, please contact me via DM.

To be a useful example, you have to start with a convoluted monolith and then refactor it towards Packwerk.

Rarely anyone starts with Packwerk in a new app - and there it'd be rather straightforward.
The earliest appointment for the US Visa, would have been even later - but they only told you after paying $200 non-refundable.

She's got a 10y valid tourist visa for Canada now - but also a German passport, so she doesn't need it anymore.

(I flew for a family function without her.)
And I'd bet the Visa application process for the US & Canada is at least as complex and likely more costly than the ones for most Schengen countries.
My wife lost a lot of time & money trying to get tourists visas for those countries. By the time she received the one for Canada I'd returned already.
