YES exactly! The play date is a great example - something unique with limitations to work within. Or Evercade to a degree, too.

Again maybe I’m not the right person for this but what about a console with reasonable power that’s designed around a particular publisher’s ethos? I know some segments of players wouldn’t be captured (madden guys, COD guys, big budget Sony single player people) but maybe a new Turbografx lol

yeah i definitely use my Steam Deck this way....but I find myself getting frustrated with how much computering i have to do on that thing, I guess I'm just wondering if there's a market for something not focused on power that lets your have a closed ecosystem based on limitations. lmao probably not

Totally - I'm just thinking about the more closed ecosystem console space...like I use a steam deck but that's the far edges of how much of a "computer" i want to engage with.

I don’t want to overstate how broadly my personal preferences are held but I do wonder if there’s an under addressed market for consoles with mid-tier power that lean in to exclusives or brand affinity. The switch obviously sort of meets that, maybe there’s more space for a AA-focused console?

Me too, it feels even better to play than I remember for Tsushima (which itself was incredibly fun to play). Just world class combat here. Also wow is it pretty

To be clear this is good, it’s really nice to sink into and the combat is outstanding - like some of the best out there. It’s also gorgeous.

It’s also A Video Game in that you meet a monk who’s like “I gotta show you a shrine to pray at” and then you do and it lets you upgrade sword killing
