I'll say again winning every election for eternity isn't realistic but driving the GOP into the wilderness long enough for leaders to clean house is doable, if hard and requiring unpleasant compromises.

The basic insight that decent people cannot work for the Republican Party remains true. The staff culture is gutter racism and misogyny all the way down. You either leave or leave your morals behind. It's going to get even worse until the party collapses.

NEW: A proposal for rebuilding Gaza that's been shared with the Trump admin references Tesla, IKEA, TSMC, and tons of other companies. I reached out to them—none had discussed or agreed to any work in Gaza. Some had no idea they were mentioned in this proposal:

you've got to remember earlier this year the government was basically in the hands of a 25-year-old who wrote "I was racist before it was cool" and JD Vance was just like "he's a boy!"

There is no statute of limitations for murder, including under UCMJ.

Unless and until some kind of compelling legal and moral argument is presented as to why this is a legitimate use of deadly force, this is just…mass murder.

I've seen estimates of $14-$16 billion per month. Even someone with as much notional wealth as Elon Musk would have to scramble to get that kind of liquidity. And then what if you have to do it again the next month?

Why would the founders have concerns with non-state funding for military forces? I mean other than the rise of Pompey, Crassus, Caesar, Cataline, Lepidus, Mark Anthony, the crisis of the third century, Charles I's ship money, James II, George III's German mercs, the Stamp Act, The Townshend acts, th

"We've saving God."

I'm no theologian but I'm pretty sure in Christianity it works the other way around.

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

I’m old enough to remember when the idea of the government reaching out to social media companies to ask for moderation was a gigantic scandal

Statement from AG Pam Bondi:
Statement from AG Pam Bondi:

“Today following outreach from the DOJ, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target ICE agents in Chicago.

The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs. The Department of Justice will continue engaging tech companies to eliminate platforms where radicals can incite imminent violence against federal law enforcement.”

And if GOP is convinced they are right, they could simply change the Senate rules and pass their funding bill right now. They haven't because they're counting on Dem votes to give their bad bill a veneer of legitimacy.

It's been two weeks since Republicans shut down the government.

Reminder: they could come to the table and negotiate to reopen things today and restore people's health care coverage.

They're actively choosing not to.

I'm sorry, is the Trump Administration talking to a tech platform?

Is it...requesting content moderation?

Not from Maine, but I understand how critical it is for the Dems to flip this seat. I'd rather not seat a 77yo Senator, but she does have the advantages of being a known quantity with a resume of electoral success. Maybe Platner would be better, but the primary will sort that out.
