YIDFF2025 "New Asian Currents" "A Stone's Throw』

The Film Workers Pledge to end complicity in the genocide published this September is an urgent call to action for all of us working not just in film but in the arts in general.

Filmmakers active in Japan will share their experiences of their solidarity actions over the last 2 years and introduce Japan-specific context to the current genocide. Inviting filmgoers as well as filmmakers, we hope to create a safe space for all to engage in an open conversation about our role to end the violence.

We'll welcome filmmakers from Palestine participating in Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival to talk about their films and exchange ideas about the responsibility of the international community and what more we should be doing.

All welcome - no discrimination or prejudice against anyone will be tolerated.

YIDFF2025 アジア千波万波『石を投げれば届く距離

今年9月に発表されたジェノサイドへの加担を終わらせる為の宣誓に、日本も含む各国の映画従事者数千人が名を連ねるなど、映画界に限らず、文化・芸術・学術の分野でも、ますますのアクションが求められています。

映画に携わる私たちが、2023年10月以降、日本各地で行われてきたパレスチナ連帯のアクションや、その活動からの発見・課題について紹介しつつ、制作、上映や執筆活動など多岐に渡り活動する映画従事者たちと、映画を愛する鑑賞者の方たちとで、ざっくばらんにお話しできる場を一緒に作りたいです。

山形国際ドキュメンタリー映画祭で上映される作品と共に来日されるパレスチナ人監督を招いて、作品にまつわるお話を聞いたり、国際社会の一員としてパレスチナと共にいるために私たちが一緒にできることなどを、お話しできればと思います。

どんな方のご参加も大歓迎! 人種や性別など、特定の属性に対しての差別・偏見は許しません。誰もが安心していられるセーファースペースを共に築きましょう。

the first part is really good, very well shot and edited...the second part less so, I found it unfocused, and in the end it felt a work in progress (after all it mirrors the situation of the dormitory itself)
