I also saw this beautiful Wild Turkey on Saturday as well.
#birds #WildTurkey
A Wild Turkey is foraging at a sports field. Big thick dark body feathers and blue and red skin on the head and neck. The bump on their nose is called a snood. The red skin flap under the chin is called a wattle.

Perhaps a little better image of one of the Great Blue Herons I saw on Saturday.
#birds #GreatBlueHeron
A large blue bird in flight. It's left side is shown as it flies across marsh waters. Great Blue Heron.

Another of the Great Blue Heron in flight.

A large blue bird in flight at a local marsh. It's facing the camera and it's wings are straight as a board.

Hey Kenneth, fyi, I rode Harleys when I was younger. My last bike was a Screaming Eagle Road Glide! Ride on!

Rookeries are very cool places to observe them! I have only seen one active rookery here at a state park, but it was very fun to see.

Thanks Gwen, should have a few more views of this. BTW, I don't know if it's just me, but I usually see bird smiles all the time. I've seen some angry birds, but they almost always seem to be smiling to me.

Yep, fun to see the interaction!

Fabulous Janet, what an image. Must have been exhilarating to see one!

It was on the camera SAN and it would probably need a recovery software to get it back and I have tried several of them in the past and don't want to install them. I'm quite technical as that's what I do for a living. Computer Science nerd here.

Thanks Marina, I have seen the GBHEs launch so many times and this is the first time catching a view like that. Those big primary feathers look like round fans.

I know, this last week was mayhem with them. They are very excited to have an abundance of acorns. Must be a bumper crop. I have not seen so many look so hyped up and happy in a long time. Fun to see them this way.

The squirrels here are having an acorn party in Wisconsin. I have been seeing squirrels everywhere frantically gathering and burying and eating acorns.
#mammals #EasternGraySquirrell
Eastern Gray Squirrel has an acorn in it's mouth and stops for a second to look at the photographer. An Eastern Gray Squirrel is enjoying an acorn while sitting atop a large granite(?) rock.

I have never seen a Great Blue Heron wingspread quite like this. So fun to catch a side view of a wingspread while the bird was launching into flight.
#birds #GreatBlueHeron
A large blue bird, a Great Blue Heron is launching into flight from a downed branch in the marsh waters. It is really spreading it's primary flight feathers as it takes off and is leaning into flight.
