What better way to create a protectionist racket to keep out Chinese goods than to foment deeply racist nationalism, and suggest they must prepare for civil war. It gives pretext for a police state to control immiserated working people, scapegoats his actions, and prevents non-western competition.
I don’t know if he actually think civil war is inevitable. But what I’m sure he knows is that his position in the ruling class is balanced on a knife’s edge, as every company he owns or has stock in is being thoroughly outcompeted by China: EVs, batteries, space tech etc.
(Not that anything Carney did was good, btw) And then pave the way for Ford, who knows you can’t win anything in Canada as a pro-Trump candidate, as the only “Trump Fighter”, which gives him the election in a couple years…
What better way to fuck the Libs than to have the opposition run an anti-Trump ad in the US (which actually is pretty decent so far as propaganda from the PCs goes) that blows up all the negotiating Carney did, and gives Trump an excuse to torpedo our economy after getting all he wants anyway.
I would be surprised if Ford and Trump weren’t working together and this is all a false flag operation to undermine the Libs, putting Ford in a position to seize power as the next Federal PC candidate and then opening the flood gates to American pillaging. But that plan is almost too smart for them
Did you hit your head recently or do you think your brain damage is congenital? Maybe hereditary? Could we ask your mom if she’s also this stupid?
Any sane leader of Canada would immediately change course and axe all of the extra military funding and police state foundations that Trump tried to ram down our throats. Any Canadian leader who doesn’t is, as many of us have pointed out forever, a traitor and should be treated as such.

🇺🇸 U.S. Expands Extrajudicial Killings to Pacific Waters

The U.S. military launched two more strikes on alleged drug-carrying boats in the eastern Pacific, killing at least five people in 48 hours — the eighth and ninth such attacks since September. The operations mark a shift from the Caribbean...
I was sort of happy the Jays won, and then Edward Rogers, the billionaire telecom monopolist, dragged his pale, flaccid corpse on stage to accept a trophy he played zero part in winning. It’s so depressing when these anemic corporate pirates come out of the woodwork after every big win. Fuck Rogers.
Yeah, definitely. We should be recognizing that it’s a bubble and act accordingly. So definitely in agreement on that. Maybe the broader point is we should be building data centres to pull ourselves off AWS, and host necessary services operated by Canadians domestically.
The related point is that Canada should be pushing for digital sovereignty, and so whatever else happens, these data centres should not be owned by American companies. It would allow Canada to better regulate the industry if the industry was Canadian, among many other benefits.
I guess the point is, read “intellectuals” closely, and even if you agree with something (I agree with basically nothing Dugin says so this is a general point), try to identify what the *argument* is. Whether there is good reason for someone’s conclusion. In this way you identify charlatans.
But again, these are just one of many assertions. Similarly, Dugin asserts all of these requirements of a “civilization”, one of which is philosophical sovereignty. Ok. Why? Does that mean Russia is not a civilization? What civilizations are there? Why is a “civilization” important even?
This is such a wild assertion it’s impossible to take seriously. If “sovereignty” means anything, surely it means Russian sovereignty (for Dugin). But Christianity was literally born in the Roman Empire! What is more Western than Rome?! And prior to this, Abrahamic thought comes from Palestine.
Second, he doesn’t define any of the language he uses. Like, what is “sovereignty” in this context? Is it uniqueness? Does it have to do with origins? Dugin never explains. Third, and this is bizarre, he rails against western influence, but the cure he identifies is… Christianity?
First, there’s no arguments here at all. Dugin is either full of shit, or has such an enormous ego he doesn’t believe he needs to argue for anything.. But this isn’t philosophy, it’s demagoguery. So it’s curious that he talks about the need for “philosophical sovereignty” but doesn’t do philosophy.
I’ve read very little of Dugin, and I really don’t care all that much, but this interview came up in my Twitter timeline and so I read a bit. www.multipolarpress.com/p/philosophi...

I don’t know the audience and I’m not sure if there’s a translation issue, but there are telltale charlatan signs.

Russia’s destiny depends on the rebirth of its own sacred way of thinking.

I’m not even criticizing Mamdani here (not that I don’t have criticisms), just pointing out that his choices are so severely constrained that he can’t realistically do otherwise if he wants to be mayor. And this should be instructive for all of us.
This is why Lenin talks so much about revolutionary moments. You have to be in a position where purging capitalists and their cronies is possible, most of the levers of power can be occupied simultaneously and you won’t get crushed. Mamdani is going to be presiding over the NYPD for fucks sake lol.
It is impossible for a socialist to be the mayor of NYC. Anyone looking to take power now, under the current legal regime in the US, will have to make concessions with the capitalists. They control too much, workers are too disorganized and socialists have too few resources.

This is a great list, thanks for posting.
Where were free speech rights when the FBI assassinated MLK Jr. or Fred Hampton? It’s just nauseating how in the same breath, the writer is indignant about Saudi Arabia, and then praises a fictitious version of the US, a rogue, terrorist state who kills anyone, anywhere with impunity.
