Here's video from the Hingham police showing a driver in a Tesla speeding by a stopped school bus. The driver blamed the self-driving mode. He still got a ticket.

Grid scale batteries are changing our electricity system. Excellent new visual story on batteries in FT today shows just how far this technology has evolved.

Fasten your seatbelts, this is just the beginning.

Dinner review: yeah the picture is nothing like the reality.

The good news is that yes, it had these exact ingredients but it was 90% potato not 40% as it looked on the box. Never again Trader Joe
This dinner looked really good on the box but holy cow it was just terrible. 90% potato 10% beef and veggies.

Although it is such a common gift, no child should ever be given/read “the giving tree“ because the boy in the book is a flaming narcissist.

Some day @bostonglobe.com will hotlink these articles right to the app, like so many other publications do already, but today they open another browser window and force me to log in.

NYT WP figured this out long ago
Crappy UX, for no apparent reason. I don’t want to read in browser and I don’t want to have to keep logging in every time I click on a link.

Fellas, is it problematic to bring food to share to a public meeting? #a2Council.
Screenshot of text reading:

Old Fourth Ward resident Jeff Crockett, a critic of the city’s density plan, spoke out, taking issue with a group of mostly pro-density residents under the banner of “Neighbors for More Neighbors” once again gathering ahead of the meeting and sharing snacks like they’ve done at previous meetings.
“I’m very disturbed about the provision of food,” Crockett told commissioners, noting he also sent them an email about it and suggested the city attorney should investigate the legality of it and consider a city policy on it.
“For you to accept this food is a problem,” he said, saying the optics of it are terrible. “What would happen if two or three groups came and filled this with food? How would you deal with that? Would you say yes to one group and no to another?”

Webster Man Arrested After Scamming Local Tire Shop Out of $15,000

On Wednesday, September 16, 2025, Officer Alex Myers was assigned to investigate a scam at a local tire shop.

A man calling himself "David Young" (here's a hint, that wasn't his real name) had set up a business account with a local tire shop. Like this name, the business was fake too. Over the course of eight different transactions, he managed to rack up a bill of more than $15,000 in tires and rims.

When the store finally caught on, "David" got spooked and took off. However, not before making a few rookie mistakes. You see, unlike this name and his business he gave the store his real phone number.
He also showed up in shorts, proudly displaying tattoos that we already had on file from what we will politely call a "long-term commitment."

Using that information, Officer Myers quickly learned the true identity of "David Young" to be 37-year-old Jason Dwinell of Webster and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
Thanks to a tip from our friends at the Douglas Police Department, officers tracked Jason down.

On the morning of October 2, 2025, Officer Myers, Detective Sgt. Daniel Lamoreaux, and Detective Jordan Ryan, with assistance from the Webster Police Department, responded to an address in Webster where Jason was found and arrested.

For many years I have been posting little observations online. What you may not know is that for many years, artists have been illustrating them - for no reason other than they wanted to respond. Below is a thread of some of these beautiful drawings because they should be seen 🧵
