Happy anniversary to Truxton, with its spaceships of red, blue and green. This shoot 'em up classic first released to Japanese arcades as "Tatsujin" on this day in 1988.

Play it on Toaplan Arcade 1 for Evercade!

As young in the early 90’s, I wanted the VGA versions and felt that the 16-color EGA versions felt archaic.

But today I appreciate the distinct minimalistic EGA style with dithering.

Just look at the beauty of Space Quest III. Played today on Xbox Retro Classics.

Mario Bros. (1983)
Before they were "super" - Mario & Luigi were just standard plumbers trying the clear a bunch of strange enemies from pipes. Not at all as popular as Donkey Kong, it was not obviously clear that Mario had much of a future in gaming since the game was only a modest success.

November marks my 20th year on the magazine. I think that deserves a self-congratulatory pat on the back.
For every like this receives I'll try and recall one anecdote (interesting or otherwise) about my time on the mag.

This is thread is gold by the way!
Well, E3 is sort of retro now anyway (I went to around 15 of them, first in 2000 when Dreamcast was still kind of hot).

News: Nintendo's Kanda Building in Tokyo is currently being demolished. (A history thread). This building was a big part of Nintendo's legacy. Mother 2 (Earthbound), Pokemon Snap and more were made here. For anyone in Tokyo wishing to take photos, this is your last chance (please be respectful).

Hm, wonder what’s the reason. Over the last two years old EA titles actually seem to get Steam listings, games that previously only were available on EA Play (Original).
Electronic Arts got such a huge catalogue. On a personal level, I hope to see Syndicate, Road Rash, Strike series, and other classics make a comeback, but understand that the commercial proposition might be difficult.
Lots of negative talks about the rumored EA deal with EA only being few franchises. Deal itself aside, people tend to forget Apex Legends, Split Fiction, Wild Hearts, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, and other bets they do.
