back in the ipod days, i dated someone who had just moved back to the US from scotland who thought i was cool just because she looked through my collection and saw that i loved life without buildings

so what i’m saying is this new song is FANTASTIC and you should put it on your ipod

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

del shannon - the further adventures of charles westover is a big one of these for me

they were fantastic and future of what sounded great live (coming in between my two favorite albums of theirs, i haven’t always given it enough credit and those songs really opened up live for me)

i moved to nyc on august 9, 2001 and said “now that i’m here, nothing bad will ever happen again!” in retrospect, i probably shouldn’t have said that

arthur lee especially because we’ll never get to hear the memphis band he was putting together which seemed like it would have been amazing

growing up in southern california, when i wore a morrissey shirt first week of high school the guy in front of me turned and said “it’s weird to see a white guy into morrissey,” so it was hard for me to think of him as racist for a long time!

i was talking with a friend about this recently, realizing that i liked the bands that started it (antioch arrow, mohinder, portraits of past, etc) but i don't actually like any of the bands in the genre "screamo"

every genre is better before people arrive at an agreed-upon name for it and it’s always diminishing returns thereafter

her guitar playing on those first two albums is so important to me, i’m still upset she doesn’t seem to want to play guitar anymore

the interesting thing is now i know why i got the reactions from people in the mid-90s when i’d ask about them seeing minor threat or the smiths or shows at the masque. those OF shows seem not so long ago to me, but to him they seem like ancient history

anyway, circle of life, etcetera

my 20-year-old nephew is not impressed by fugazi or whatever else like that, but when i told him i went to those first couple odd future shows, those were the ones that did it for him
