This is another one of those elusive vintage psych albums I've always wanted but never found in the wilds. For 2bux in NM-/VG+ condition (a couple small minor surface scuffs, cover fairly pristine), I'm happy to add this into the collection.
Another from Saturday's garage sale score: the 1968 first album by San Francisco's AUM, on an early incarnation of Seymour Stein's Sire Records label (then distributed by London in the US).

I knew nothing of this artist and her 1977 album found at a garage sale but my gut instinct told me to grab it (just 2$). Glad I did. Now Playing: Kazuko Shiraishi Featuring #SamRivers – Dedicated To The Late #JohnColtrane And Other #Jazz #Poems #musicsky #jazzsky
Haven't compared it yet to my orange UK RCA press but so far it sounds wonderful. Flea market find Sunday for 2$.
Finally found a (as far as I know) 1st press of Dave Edmunds' wonderful 2nd LP, "Subtle As A Flying Mallet." My 3rd upgrade from US to UK RCA to this custom boutique label (dist. by RCA) Rockfield Records, the short-lived label of the like-named Welsh recording studio. 1of2 #musicsky #music
Easing into Monday w/ #CountBasie. While I'm not a huge Basie-phile, I do appreciate him, especially this period when he featured the great #LesterYoung on sax. Plus: Mr. 5x5 #JimmyRushing on vocals on several tunes here. Clean mid-50s UK compilation. 1$ at the flea market. #musicsky #jazzsky #jazz
Not as fun as Peter Yarrow's soundtrack to the film "You Are What You Eat," also issued in 1968. Best moment is a cut-up sample of The Beatles Help (how'd they get clearance for that?)
Mimics Zappa's We're Only In It For The Money and Lumpy Gravy w/o the street smarts and song/studio craft. None of the creative muscle The Monkees delivered on Head in 1968. None of the on-the-fly inspiration of John & Yoko's Revolution #9.

Another from Saturday's garage sale bonanza, I'd heard of "Rock and Other Four Letter Words"but never saw/heard it. Now I know why. Is it a major label attempt to cash in on the so-called 'underground" which was by 1968 hitting the Top 40? Perhaps..

I once considered collecting Paul Revere & The Raiders promo LPs but they weren't a priority. Yesterday I found 1967's Revolution! at that garage sale w/ the Hendrix/Axis/Mono I posted about earlier. Not as rare, of course, but I still dig 'em. Been a fan since I was a little kid. #musicsky #music
For me, this is a neat find: a promo of my favorite Doors album, The Soft Parade. Wish it was a white label promo (usually sent to radio), but given this is the first I've ever seen a promo of this LP in any form, anywhere, I'm not complainin'. 5$ at the flea market this morning. #musicsky #music

This is what solidarity looks like. Together, we will win.
I think I can now purge the 2017 reissue (Sony Legacy/Experience Hendrix) but I will probably hold onto to the 2002 Classic Records 200 gram reissue on the Track Records label a while longer.
Yesterday I found a unicorn at a garage sale. Pretty much mint condition. 2bux. This may be the 2nd time its being played, I suspect. Now Playing: The Jimi Hendrix Experience's Axis: Bold As Love. Mono. White Label Promo. Cont'd

This week:

-Three more universities rejected Trump's extortion compact
-Over a dozen airports refused to play Kristi Noem's propaganda video
-30+ press outlets refused to comply with Pete Hegseth's new restrictions

The only way to rebuke Trump's authoritarianism is solidarity.
I had this at one point, the first album by Billy Paul, on Gamble Records (pre-Philadelphia International). You can hear the roots of his future hit style on "Me & Mrs. Jones." straight ahead cabaret #jazz album is its own swing thing. Glad to have this again. Flea market find. #musicsky #jazzsky
Love this! While I'm not a heavy collector of Archie comics, I was a fan of the TV show as a kid and have all the albums (and many of the singles including a couple signed by Ron Dante, the voice of Archie on the records)! I even found a Mexican press of their first album some years back.

I urge our nation to use this weekend's No Kings marches as a declaration of independence against the tyranny and lawlessness currently running this country.

Use your voice. ACT PEACEFULLY. Protect yourself and your community.

THERE ARE NO KINGS IN THE UNITED STATES.

GOP state party leaders will vote today to disband the NYS Young Republicans, so they can choose new leadership. This comes after Young Republican groups nationwide exchanged messages with racist and antisemitic comments, including about raping their political enemies & placing them in gas chambers.
