At the end of the day I'm not sure how much difference it makes. But it is striking to put out a budget that axes a luxury tax on yachts and adds a co-pay for refugee claimants accessing drugs and dental care.

Today in small miracles: the drugstore near me, which NEVER has Halloween candy left after the day STILL had some out and on sale when I dragged my ailing skeleton out to pick up meds tonight and so now I have meds and a box of Coffee Crisp to comfort me in my convalescence.

I never figured myself for a rpg podcast listener, but two sets of people whose work i enjoy have come out with real play podcasts this fall and they're both a real delight so far (and, incidently, they both have a light anticarceral element to them, which is also great).

Nothing so luxe as this, but when I was growing up in Winnipeg in the 90s, there would be a handful of adults with a bottle of brown liquor under candy bowl table, and if they noticed a parent with a travel mug, would offer a tipple (I of course didn't notice, but my folks bring it up)
