My friend from high school tried to mail something to the united states from Portugal and couldn’t.

So apparently we can't even send letters to the US from Europe now. Seems that the US is slowly cutting itself off from everything - or perhaps its leader is looking to starve the US Postal Service completely. Maybe it's both.

Except that we hadn’t. We brought body bags into her office because people all over the world are dying

We went to demand that they fully fund PEPFAR and that it be a priority of reopening the government. People shouldn’t have to die until she is willing to take action and the consequences of her in action is appearing in body bags all around the world.

as the OMB director withholds legally appropriated funds from HIV and AIDS programs. Susan Collins has supported this program in the past and did push the OMB director, but with the shut down, she has not prioritized the funding of this bipartisan global health initiative.
