We're fixing what's broken.

As times are changing, we're the party who can keep up.

The system isn't broken, it's rigged. It's time for real change.

Why do we keep talking about trans healthcare?

Because of statistics like this.
Because every day waiting, in this world obsessed with harassing trans people, is a battle that many don't survive.

So, we keep talking about it, and keep fighting back against systemic transphobia.

Happy #CommunityTransportWeek!

We celebrated that a little early last week in Parliament. I also spoke against yet more scapegoating of migrants, amplified Challenge Poverty Week, & worked on some more big legislation coming to the chamber. See below 👇
A dark green graphic which reads 'Last Week, I...' in bold white lettering at the top. Below are four bullet points, reading "Spoke against the Scottish Conservatives’ anti-migrant motion, to challenge false & harmful rhetoric; Joined anti-poverty campaigners in Aberdeen to discuss local & national solutions to poverty; Chaired the Cross-Party Group on the WASPI campaign, to ensure WASPI women aren’t left behind; Passed the Criminal Justice Modernisation Bill, which in part aims to prevent domestic abuse-related deaths". To the right is an image of Maggie Chapman MSP standing with a tall man from the Community Transport Association. He has white skin, short black hair, and is smiling directly into the camera. He is wearing a black suit. He is holding one side of a placard, and Maggie is holding the other side. The placard reads "I'm on board for Community Transport Week!"

Poverty isn't just having no money at the end of the week.

It's a daily struggle, jumping through hoops to get support.

@scottishgreens.org fight for universal services, like subsidised travel & better childcare, that make a fairer system for everyone #ChallengePovertyWeek

Goodbye to the slender-billed curlew, officially declared extinct today.

This is the first extinction from mainland Europe in centuries.

Well, it's official. After our paper last year (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....), the Slender-billed Curlew is officially declared Extinct today.

Scientists dream of describing new species, not writing their obituary and epitaph, knowing that they are gone forever #ornithology

No, laws alone aren't enough to tackle queer- & trans-phobia.

But the @snp.org are just dragging their heels on banning conversion practices.

Letting down every single victim. Allowing literal torture to go on, trying to change something that can't be changed.

@scottishgreens.org were proud to get more orgs paying the Real Living Wage when we were in government.

Because fair working conditions don't just help workers, they help families, which supports local economies, which supports everyone. #ChallengePovertyWeek

Our services should be owned by us & work for us. Private companies keep putting up prices, making life harder for everyday working folk.

The Scottish Greens will always fight for more public ownership for better services. Join that fight here:

How can some bus companies thrive while other are making cuts?

Bringing bus companies into public ownership would mean your ticket fare would go back into the service, instead of lining private pockets. People, over profit.

It works in Edinburgh, and it could work in Dundee.

Tayport travellers were "incredibly angry" at a packed public meeting to discuss bus service changes to and from the town." Beneath is a photograph of around 40 people, seated in a public meeting. Animal welfare being close to my heart, it was a pleasure to sponsor the @bluecrossuk.bsky.social exhibition in Parliament🐾

Last week I championed key Scottish Green policies like the Housing Bill, supported the visitor levy, & met with mistreated staff at the University of Dundee✊

Met concerned Dundee University staff who have lost faith in the University’s recovery process
Passed the Housing Bill, re-introducing rent controls to Scotland for the first time in nearly 40 years
Hosted the celebration of 50 years of journalism teaching at Edinburgh Napier University". To the right is an image of Maggie Chapman with two representatives of the Blue Cross.

In a year of seemingly endless cuts, now journalists in Aberdeen are threatened with redundancy.

Quality journalism is maybe more important now than ever.

I'll be closely following how STV supports its workers through these cuts.

The Scottish Gov is in denial. Proposed cuts to the fire service aren't trimming the fat - they're going to leave scars ❌

Stations could be shut down, leaving massive areas of Scotland unserved. We must stand with our firefighters, who are being asked to do more with less.

Across the world today, people have taken to the streets to stand for Palestine, and for the brave members of the Flotilla who have been kidnapped by the Israeli military.

The world stands with Palestine. Governments should catch up.

The problem isn't that there's not enough to go around, it's that what we've got isn't shared fairly.

It's a tale as old as time. Until we sort that out, energy bills will stay extortionate.

Despite the media, Scottish Parliament, & the Scottish Funding Council's scrutiny, Dundee University is STILL yet to make the changes that are needed for its recovery.

Instead of spending big bucks on outsourcing a solution, they should work with their own staff & students.
