Skipping right past Earth...

The Far Forest is easier, so I'll tackle it first. Imagine rococco but the wood elfy. Silks and lace and embroidery in greens, browns, yellows, and reds.

In between coughing fits, she apologized for scaring him. By the time she got a second good look at him, she was disappointed to find that he looked human again. “So, you’re not human,” she observed once the coughing had died down enough and he'd brought her a glass of water. “Is that new?”

Eli sank into his seat on the couch with a resigned sigh. “No. I've always been this way,” he answered, adding sheepishly, “Sorry about your air by the way. I didn't mean to take it.”

“Don't worry about it. I played a stupid game and won a stupid prize,” she said, shrugging. She paused awkwardly, unsure how to proceed, as a sneaker wave of curiosity washed over her. The movie continued undisturbed in the background, Rick Moranis's character fleeing from Zuul only to be trapped forever in one frame as Vale paused the movie. “Are you even from Earth?”

“No. I'm from Ganzer.” Seeing the complete dearth of recognition for the name plain on Vale’s face, he apparently felt obligated to continue talking. “Really? Nothing? Gavin's from Ganzer, too.”

“Gavin's from Anaheim,” Vale responded.

And if the blood loss miraculously fails, the toxin will eventually paralyze the heart and lungs.” He finished pulling up his jeans and smirked seeing Lukas staring at his ass. “So, unfortunately, anyone you bite will meet their maker.”

Lukas shook his head, tearing his eyes off Darien's derriere. “If snakes can deliver dry bites, I don't see why I can't, too.”

“They can do what?” Darien froze with his shirt half on.

“Snakes can choose not to use their venom when they bite. It takes time and energy to make.” Lukas shrugged. “Maybe vampires are the same way. Or maybe I can just empty my venom sacs before biting someone I don't want to kill.” Darien looked at him like he'd grown a second head. “I did a project on how they make antivenom in seventh grade,” he said, shrugging.

“Brilliant.” Darien pulled a moleskin journal out from the top drawer of his dresser, cracking it open to a fresh page and writing something down. “If you let me study your attempts, I will help you hunt.”

Darien would take Vale to get a fancy dress and then off to a very fancy dinner followed by a magical midnight unicorn ride in the Far Forest. Really make her feel like she's a literally princess before taking her home and giving her just enough of a kiss to leave her thinking about him allll night.

Vale, Gavin, & Eli would probably do something cute, like dinner & a movie or driving over to the coast for a sunset beach stroll or protesting outside city hall because the msyor practically lives in a different city and won't let the gates have their pride parade.

Darien would love to take Vale out & show her what it feels like to be romanced by an old school romantic (& if she falls for him? That's the goal, baybee; even his moms would have to tolerate him if he was on the Vox's arm). She'd never go for it tho.

To a certain extent, they can really only control this process by not getting close with others in the first place, but if someone has few enough scruples they can leave a trail of broken hearts in their wake and inflate their own magical potential in the process.

In the Far Forest, they tend to be romantically monogamous but not sexually. Faeries guard their hearts closely because when they feel deeply enough for another person (good or bad) a portion of their power - they call it their heart - clings to that person irrevocably until one of the pair dies.

Earth is Earth. We know how Earth works.

Monogamy is practically unheard of in Ganzer and they only practice marriage insomuch as the upper crust uses it to seal important political or business agreements. I think there is a concept among the demons of Ganzer that souls remember their past loves.

19. I like to hope that I achieved spooky with the bathroom ghost and the warehouse ghost but idk. I probably need to read some more horror to get a better feel for the genre
