The world is so filled with beauty and wonder and I feel very strongly both that it should be a kinder place to live in and that it is within our power to make it as such
"Just use the *keyboard*."

"Keyboard. How *quaint*."
And this is why a lot of our computers are running Linux right now. Not all, unfortunately.
I basically regret the decision to attempt to hold onto a couple of the shelf units, rather than deal with keeping shit in boxes until the replacement shelf units are purchased.
The hidden dark side to redoing our Console Room:

Not only is it a major amount of work, we basically have all the others entertainment spaces in the basement blocked up because we had to put the contents of the room somewhere.

Next time we'll need to be more brutal about the furniture.

Daily bunny no.3109's seafaring days are behind him
A bunny, dressed like a sea captain, smokes a pipe as he sits on the roof of his tavern in a town by the sea. The tavern is called "The Birb & Bun", and there are a few seagulls on the roof with him, relaxing. At the entrance to the tavern, younger sailor bunnies are on shore leave.
UPDATE: Got some tools, decided to put it off until tomorrow.
Oh my fucking god the baseboard goes below the carpet? Which means the baseboard was installed first. Which also means I have to pull the carpet tonight so we can prime tomorrow.
Part of me also wants to never empty another room in this house.
Part of me never wants to attach anything to the wall with screws ever again.
A wall with lots of little spackle marks.
Biggest purchase at the hardware store - adhesive carpet squares. The carpet in the Console Room is pretty much trash, it wasn't new when we moved in 10 years ago.
A pile of new carpet squares.

This is Zebby. He finally managed to catch his tail. Super proud of the accomplishment and would like to pretend no one saw the part right after. 12/10 (IG: zebbythegolden)
The Home Depot website appears to be really poorly optimized for mobile users. Specifically the staggered loading seems to like to add in more results right when I try to click, and thus I wind up on a product page rather than more results.

Fruit!!! Rats!!! 🐀🍋🍉🍈🍎🍊🍌🍒🍓🍇🫐!!!
Yeah, clearly we need to organize it better. So much neat stuff.
We're at the point that we're definitely seeing the long to-do list preceding reassembly of what we call "The Console Room". Spackle, prime, prime, paint, paint, remove carpet, install carpet.
It's been a while since this one room was anywhere near this empty. The rest of the house is in a bit of a state. Hoping to get some paint up by the weekend.
A mostly empty room, still with some shelves and racing arcade chairs. A bunch of parked arcade machines.
Most of these were brought in by @systemreactor.bsky.social, I think you'd need to ask her.
Uh, someone here in Colorado basically DID download a car. I had to sit in it when it was at a 3d printing show because I figured it was my one chance to sit in a Lamborghini.
A 3d printed Lamborghini on display. A woman smiling as she sits in a 3d printed Lamborghini.
Yeah, I figured we didn't have them all out for testing. Dug out two more. I know a couple of these have problems.
A stack of FIVE Sega Dreamcasts.

It's The Muppet Show with our very special guest star Mr. Sid Haig!

It wouldn't power with batteries, nor with the wall wart. Literally it would only power with the benchtop power supply clipped to the external battery pack, and then it just went "oop, I died" when I was verifying that oddity.
Ugh. Turns out that the Atari Lynx we tested yesterday was actually marginal, and now it won't power on by any method. Labeled, in the box of "consoles in need of repair."

With the model that it is, I've already told @systemreactor.bsky.social that I want to pay someone else to repair it.
