This from the great @sulliview.bsky.social on the media's anemic (or non-) coverage of the massive No Kings movement is such a great point

"The media should be covering the Trump administration’s invasion of Chicago as an enormously important story, but it’s not. Trump’s comments regarding Charlottesville pale in comparison to the radical actions he takes almost daily in his second term." newrepublic.com/article/2016...
The Mainstream Media Is Moving Right. Here’s What We Can Do About It.
At The Washington Post, CBS, and maybe CNN, the trend line is terrible. But liberals do have the power to reverse these trends.

We love guns more than kids. I don't see how you can interpret this as anything other than a diseased country in the latter stages of destroying itself.

A grassroots, peaceful, diverse, multi-generational, multiethnic, cross-regional, cross-class coalition doesn't give them what they want to satisfy their curiosity or desire for conflict-driven clickbait.

But ignoring us is anti-democracy and anti-American.

That is why the protest have to occur in large numbers peacefully. MSM has failed & or afraid to capture the majority of how Americans feel about this failure as an administration. To call it out for what it truly is, a mob regime. MSM has gone silent on P2025 and how close they are to completing.
lutzfernandez.bsky.social
It doesn’t give them the conflict btw individuals they want, which is why they have to focus on the insults thrown by Miller and Johnson.

They also seem to like to cover groups that appear exotic to them, like MAGA conspiracy theorists.
lutzfernandez.bsky.social
Trump and his MAGA followers have given legacy media more reason than ever to be cowards, fearful of appearing partisan. But I suspect it’s also driven by the desire to focus on individuals. A truly diverse mass protest doesn’t give them the hero they want.
lutzfernandez.bsky.social
I’ve been to more protests in 2025 then I went to over the entire four years of Trump’s first administration. I am far from alone. Millions are out.

Americans are organizing and attending protests for the first time in their lives. Each of these people have something critically important to say.

I don't know how many times to point out that is absolutely ghoulish and non-consensual and disgusting behavior.
To exploit the image of a dead woman who was also exploited in real life so you can live out your momentary fantasies of "what is possible" with AI is bad science journalism, also.
Sick.

Marilyn Monroe in Game of Thrones? AI Could Make It Happen Soon

Despite early, and familiar, copyright growing pains, Sora may be the prelude to AI-generated on-demand TV and movies

Screenshot includes an AI generated image of what looks like a human cross between Daenaerys Targaryen and Marilyn Monroe on the back of a dragon.

Probably because if they even listed them all, their enthusiasm would look ridiculous.

I keep finding that discussions of ethics around AI keep being limited by the folks who want to use it or are excited about it to one or two of the technology's many -- and even then they often bring those up just to minimize, dismiss, or ignore them.
disabilitystor1.bsky.social
What horrifies me is that the man who wrote this seems only to think of the ethics of what Sora AI is now able to do as something to discuss to discuss in the context of image rights and permissions.

Special education isn't a "nice thing to have." It isn't "charity" or doing something to make us feel better. It is a right. The right to a Free Appropriate Public Education is codified in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, signed by a Republican president.

From @thorbenson.bsky.social, a reminder that MAGA is "collecting our data to realize its authoritarian goals."

A key reason why districts, schools, parents, admins, and teachers cannot be complacent about what the tech bros' edtech--especially AI tools--is collecting on children.
