Seems like the worst time to start sharing your citizens' biometric data with the US government

The EU-Commission wants to negotiate a very sensitive agreement that would allow US authorities direct (!) access to police-stored fingerprints & facial images in Europe.
Potentially, all travelers could be affected by this #EBSP – and people in need for protection.

Scapegoating migrants is the oldest trick in the book. Yet somehow, this narrative keeps rearing its head. Migrants are always blamed for successive governments' austerity policies.

Except, and I do fully understand that this is the Telegraph so facts might not matter too much, pretty much every reliable expert agrees that the only practical way to genuinely reduce small boat crossings is to provide safer and simpler alternatives. 1/
Michael Deacon

The Greens say they've got a plan to stop the boats.

Unfortunately, it's barking mad

Their proposal won't solve the problem. In fact, it shows they don't even understand what the problem actually is Simple. It would allow the small boats' prospective passengers to enter Britain by "safe and legal routes” instead.

Mr Polanski seems to think that this is a brilliant scheme. I fear, however, that not all voters will share his enthusiasm. Because, in effect, he's pledging to stop people entering Britain illegally - by allowing them to enter Britain legally. He might as well say: "We're going to end shoplifting - by requiring shops to give away all their products free of charge."

Mr Polanski's plan, therefore, will not solve the problem. In fact, it suggests that he doesn't understand what the problem actually is.

The Trump administration is paying children in ORR custody (essentially detained children) $2,500 to get out of the country. Many of these children have no where to go, have no family, and are here seeking protection. Our immigration system is broken but this is NOT the way to fix it.

I understand this. Please tell me you do, too.

Maintenant plus que jamais, ce n'est pas le moment ni de s'aliger sur les politiques migratoires de Trump, ni d'offrir notre droit à la vie privée en cadeau.

Adding my voice to the chorus: the Sumud flotilla never entered Israeli waters. that is a lie. The Gazan coast is Palestinian territory (not even spiritually, like actually in international law) so the Sumud flotilla has not violated Israeli sovereignty. The Israelis intercepting them however…

An ICE deportation flight (OAE3671) that departed Phoenix, AZ yesterday morning has just landed in Casablanca, Morocco after stops in Senegal (likely fuel) and Mauritania. This marks the 1st deportation to Morocco since at least 2020 when ICE flight tracking began.

A leaked document confirms the EU is still backing deterrence efforts, even though they know this money goes to human rights abusers. The EU has been funding Libyan militias for a long time. Just days ago, they fired on our Sea-Watch 5. Read more here: https://euobserver.com/migration/areb944fcf
