Here's a bit of Portland, Maine, for Indigenous People's Day.
A poster sized piece of public art on a brick wall showing two people holding hands. One, a Wabanaki person in jeans and a hoodie with the state of Maine on it. The other a Palestinian person in yellow shorts and a white tee with the Palestinian flag on it. There is an indistinct group of people behind them. The lettering above and below them reads: From Wabanaki to Palestine Occupation is a Crime.
Last week the administration removed information signs at Acadia National Park that mentioned climate change, endangered plants & Indigenous heritage. Someone felt compelled to create alternate signage -- thank you!
#friendsofacadia #altacadianationalpark #altnationalparkservice #SchoodicInstitute
A yellow sign reading "How is climate changing Acadia? (crossed out) You don't need to know! SIGN REMOVED" place next to trail signage. A blue sign reading "Is Acadia Wabanaki land? (crossed out) You don't need to know! SIGN REMOVED" place next to a boulder. A green sign reading "Why protect Acadia's plants? (crossed out) You don't need to know! SIGN REMOVED" place against a boardwalk fence to beach access.

LumenARRT! will be there tomorrow to stand in solidarity with all those detained by ICE at the Cumberland County Jail.

Where: Cumberland County Jail at the corner of St. John and Congress Streets in Portland, Maine

When: Friday August 15th at 7:00pm

We arrive to hold space for the humanity of care, dignity, support, family, and solidarity that ICE so violently attempts to strip from its detainees. With our presence, our voices, our light, and our hearts, we hope that those inside can know that the community outside is thinking about them, is working for them, and fighting the brutality they are subject to.

Please join us with your heart and voice to help center our moral courage in this fragile moment. Register here: https://actionnetwork.org/events/vigil-for-those-in-cages
