That to say I think it would be a neat spectacle to watch one like it was when Button took the F1 car around, but I don’t think it’d make for good racing

Possibly. I think they’d be tiptoeing around most of the section at half throttle so as to not bin it. Maybe open it up from Reid park to the esses, where they’d be cautious again until past the apex of Forrest’s elbow

If it even makes it to 18. I think the 7-8-9 complex would be diabolical, & then the esses…

For ref, one of my fav things every year at Bathurst is Hindy & whoever he’s with remarking on drivers getting closer to the walls. Good discussion of the top of the mountain here. No LMDh could do this

I genuinely wonder how close a GT car’s times would be to the LMDh

The prototypes would be seconds faster on the straights, but given how heavy they are and notoriously slow under braking I bet the GT spec cars would make much of that time up over the mountain
