Don’t know what’s the deal with this monstera……
It hasn't grown a new leaf in 5 months, yet its roots are thriving like crazy and have outgrown the pot. This is the 2nd time I've had to repot it.
It is under growth light 12 hrs/day, so it should have sufficient light.

🍽️ Hainanese chicken rice

Not bad for a first attempt.
The chicken is tender and delicious.
The rice was slightly burned cause I cooked it in the oil that dripped from the chicken while it was steaming. And that made the rice smell so good!

5) Once the rice is fully cooked, open the lid and mix thoroughly. Put the lid back on for another 10 minutes.
Then, voilà!

3) Layer the ingredients on top of the rice, e.g., bamboo shoots, mushrooms, chicken thighs, etc.
They cook better when cut into small pieces.

4) Cook the rice as you usually would. Personally, I use a rice cooker.

Mixed Rice Recipe:
1) Wash the short-grain white rice. Soak it in water for 20 minutes, then drain it for 10 minutes.


2) For 1 cup of rice: 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp rice wine, 1 Tsp dashi pack. Then, add water to bring the total volume to 1 cup and add to the rice.

Sorry, I don't have an exact recipe for the stir-fried chicken and mushrooms. I knew what flavor I wanted to achieve, so I tasted the food while cooking until it met my expectations 😅
I think you will find the perfect ratio for yourself!

I do have the recipe for the mixed rice though!

🍽️ Stir-fried chicken and mushrooms with clam mixed rice

Seasoned the stir-fried with mirin, soy sauce and some black pepper (basically what I had on the counter).
To make it smell more appealing, I sometimes add a small piece of butter at the end!

After waiting a month, I happily discovered that the ficus triangularis variegata had rooted on the pebbles I used to weigh down this tube today!
Then I accidentally destroyed the roots when removed the pebbles 🙈
Please don't give up on rooting, little one!!
