to really speak to me, I think. Textures sound off. Plenty of hip-hop-friendly breaks, but a little thin somehow, a little too smooth. ‘Tiger Trot’ maybe works the best. I don’t really hear The Jungle Book in there either. Shouldn’t ‘Panthera Cry’ be in Thundercats? (Wait! That was Panthro…)

293. Leroi Conroy - A Tiger's Tale (Colemine Records)

Cincinatti, OH's LC (& a curiously rhyming name) loves 60s/70s film scores and golden age hip-hop but he's maybe standing a little too close to his source material. The album is an alternate soundtrack to The Jungle Book. Too pastiche

synth sounds. Sounds like a planet of sound, as Black Francis might scream. ‘The Oort Cloud (Too Night)’ is a bit too flat & shiny for me. Too 4/4. No idea what the title means tho. ‘Under The Bed’ and ‘Kháron’ take the best down, with the closer tinkling & phasing for seemingly hours. Nice stuff.
There’s more symphonic swoop, then Eastern strings are plucked. Raps from Death Row inmate Rrome Alone over a payphone. It’s a standout tracks. ‘It’s Coming Soon’ is the arpeggiated prog throb, acid frills bordering on a disco number. ‘Doll’s House’ is maybe my favourite - self help samples & enorm
‘Spontaneously Combust’ opens w very familiar chug & snatched announcer dialogue and other sounds. ‘P~1’ has the UFO theme, touch of arpeggios. ‘Baraka’ has some sweaty blues singing over an orchestral loop b4 a sermon kicks in. ‘A Sacred Choice’ skanks, but I don’t know ‘Arabebonics’ is abt at all.

292. The Growlers - Beach Goth Tape (Demastered 2025) (The Growlers Records)

Has a band with such a terrible name ever invented a sub-genre with a better name than Beach Goth? They had me at ‘Demastered’. A very different flavour of psychoactive music than Dr Paterson et al. but it works

291. The Orb - Buddhist Hipsters (Cooking Vinyl Ltd)

Showing my age again w more superannuated 90s musicians. They’ve even got Steve Hillage on board again. One track is described as a ‘plaintive-arpeggiated-prog-throbber’ and I’m so in. Nothing quite hits the same dubby/acid sweet spot.

Well, well, well. That’s a nice birthday present. Nice work, Slabhead. #LIVMUN
Some good therapy and trying to look after my body and therefore mind has been the groundwork for taking hold of my thoughts like that, and I’m delighted about it. It stopped me from spending the day in a shitty brown fog and I was able to turn those regrets into an opportunity for change & growth.
In other news, I managed to think and talk my way around this until I realised that it wasn’t actually self-loathing but frustration that I didn’t cuddle my friends or tell them that I loved them enough. And that helped me realise how I need to be more of my authentic self, and I then felt better.
Anyone who remembers Fred Done paying out before United won the title then having to pay again when Arsenal actually did win the title knows how great he is at predicting the future. Tosser.
I’m so over being a human. Still working out what my next form will be. 😃
I really like my brain in so many ways. It feels more like a disability in the sense that the world isn’t designed to meet my brain’s needs.
Ha! Just replied to your post which I felt totally matched my energy this morning. I wish it was even doing/saying regrettable stuff. Everything was perfectly okay, but still the self-loathing. Just brain stuff.
Currently in a very similar brain place. It would be great if there was a brain vacation option, wouldn’t it?

I’d say your hair, skin, weight, lashes etc. are absolutely fine, but that really isn’t how it works, is it?
Had a really lovely evening with friends over to celebrate my impending 53rd birthday. The self-loathing this morning is immense. I really am tired of being me. It is fucking exhausting.
Much like the US having no empire but still
trying to rule the globe, it has no king but invests so much personal power in its president so as to make no difference. (Yes, I done some words.)
