Hi #Portfoliodday I'm Katy a fantasy artist from the UK.

Some of my character based work for this time around!

#criticalrole #dnd #sulbook #witch #essek
Lilly Nightshade a Necromancer Witch uses her arcane powers and influence as Queen of the Thorny Forest to stop a hoard of mutated thorns in their tracks to give her friends time to escape. A Monk/Gloomstalker lion like tabaxi called Sinda, uses her strength and agility to hold onto a tree, ready to pounce on her enemries. She wears red and gold but still manages to blend in with the forest. Essek Theyless from Critical role stands in Aeor and casts Gravity Well with a small black hole appearing between his hands as he concentrates on the magic. The demoness Aysel reaching down or perhaps dropping a small Sulaai boy into the trees, her wings outstretched as she flies.

From a scene in the book Sul: From Gold to Iron to Rust. Co-authored and Illustrated by Katy Grierson and Jacqui Davis.

I just finished this up in a SmArtSchool mentorship class with Sam Weber. 😊 The assignment was to create an illustration with an original character, and I went with my current D&D character 😅
A woman with a shaved head in gold armor stands among dark briars. The briar thorns pierce her armor and skin in a few places, and she hangs her head in a defeated posture.

Yeah, I'm good! Busy-busy with client work so I've not been around (besides the ID thing)

I could get a vpn, I've just been too lazy to sort it out! 😂 Turns out besides wanting my DMs here, I haven't had to verify on any other site, I guess I'm too wholesome lolol

How goes the writing?

Only EIGHT of The Explorers Bundle are left on my Kickstarter! Amazing since this means all the folks (or most) of the ones getting this bundle are new to my work, very exciting! Hello and thank you to those of you who have gone for it!

Illustration of Critical Role’s Caduceus Clay and Mollymauk Tealeaf with art nouveau influences. An illustration re-interpreting the painting “Call to Arms” by Leighton. Jester and Fjord are leaving an elegant building after getting married, followed by Caleb, Essek, Beau, Yasha, Caduceus and Veth, as Kingsley stops them on the steps, seemingly telling them about something important and pointing to the side.
He’s asking them to join on a new adventure or maybe fight an incoming danger.
All of the Mighty Nein are dressed in very fancy clothing, Jester has a beautiful white gown with pink embroidery. Every’s face is either shocked or excited.

In the background, we see various buildings, one showing the “Lavish Chateau” sign.
Many NPC, guest characters and easter eggs are hidden in the image. Illustration of a blue-skinned horned character mid-spell, in a room with pillars and bookshelves, at night. Illustration of a knight and his pegasus at sunset.

Illustration of a drow standing in front of a large white snake with wings. The drow has long white hair and dark green clothing with copper accents. He holds a dagger above his head with blue magic arcing between the blade and his hand. They are in the Underdark, with blue spores and mushrooms surrounding them. Illustration of the fellowship from the Fourth Age actual play. They are at a high altitude looking down into a valley with a river. From left: Theodas (bald elf, many scars, dark beard, golden interlocking armor, dull blue cape); Iairen (elf, medium brown skin, kinky brown hair with undercut and half up style, blue robes, holding a blue palantir); Mistiel (elf with dark brown skin, copper cape, long white box braids half up, golden armour); Eona (human, dark brown long hair with golden scales woven through, leathers and cape, holding a sword); Chicory (hobbit-elfish, lilac dress, pale skin, brown hair in loose waves, holding a wooden staff that crooks over and holds a glowing white stone); Aerlind (elf, dark hair, blue fine outfit, tanned skin, east asian features, holds an astrolabe in one hand). Illustration from first person view, showing a hand holding up an opalescent stone with a hole in the center. The stone has brass filigree, and through the hole is a view of a mountain sheep. The background is a mountainous landscape. There are slight magical effects showing that the view through the stone is a zoomed in view of the background. An alabaster gargoyle and a feminine figure dressed in black robes with their faces shadowed by hoods. The pair are within a gothic styled church, standing before an altar on a dais, preaching to spectators behind the POV. Candles cast plenty of light in the room despite the flames being purple, and all the decorations and the architecture is gothic in design. They look as though they are in the middle of performing a sermon in unison

Now that I've recovered from my cold and isn't sneezing my brains out, I finally managed to finish up my piece from @paulscottcanavan.com 's mentorship :D

Knew I wanted to paint a horse, so decided to draw some inspiration from the wild hunt folklore and ended up with bonus doggies.
A male rider dressed in leather armour rides across the sky. He's carrying a spear, and a half cape is flying out behind him. His horse have blue glows across its body, and they're flanked by two demonic canines with red glows across their body. Behind them is a eclipse and clouds.
