After identifying the Portland city councilors as Democratic socialists at the start of this article, @kellen.bsky.social (or the @nytimes.com editor) refers to them consistently as simply "socialists". There is a difference. The terms are not interchangeable.

In 1993 Sharon Kaplan Roszia & I published "The Open Adoption Experience" (HarperCollins) to help families and professionals know what to expect and how to work through difficulties. We said, "Open adoption is more of a relationship than an institution or process."
