Hello there! I’m Hux aka Lizzie Huxley-Jones – author, editor and noisy person. Welcome to my booksy bsky, sorry about all the bad jokes. I write joyful stories about queer and disabled people, and I dabble in a bit of non-fiction too. You can find all my books so far in the thread below!
Hux, a white person with ginger bobbed hair, sits on a couch in a green leaf patterned suit, with pale pink flowers, over a cream embroidered shirt with a round collar. They are laughing with their eyes closed behind gold round glasses. Hux sits on a sofa, head turned to camera and smiling. They wear a daisy print jumpsuit and a green cardigan. Behind them is a stack of all their books. Hux, a white person with long brown hair, sits against an ivy covered wall. They wear a black leather jacket over a dress patterned with leaves, orange flowers and white rabbits. Dappled golden sunlight filters over them. The photo was taken by Jamie Drew.

Childrens middle grade fantasy in the 70s-80s (which often had teen characters and was also sort of YA) was astonishingly original , didnt have to follow conventions of adult literature and structurally broke the mold, and taught love of reading in an u precedented way

Tadaa, here’s the cover for my next romcom, Reality Check out April 9th (and available to preorder now!)

On reality tv, what’s behind the scenes will always filter through. It’s f/f, lovers to enemies to lovers, chaotic nonsense with hot disabled babes. 👰🏼‍♀️💓📚🎥✨
The paperback cover for Reality Check by Lizzie Huxley-Jones which shows two women in bridal dresses, facing forward but smirking at each other. One is tall blonde and fat, and the other is small and ginger haired. The background is a bisexual fade with confetti and film camera patterns.

Not to be all if you like Marvel so much name x many characters, but I do find these conversations particularly fascinating because books from the last 2-3 years are rarely mentioned. The last Potter book came out in 2007, 18 years ago — if we only count to GCSE that’s 3.5 high school cycles ago!

I cannot sleep because of flu injection making me hot hot then cold cold and three mammals snoring in my room then occasionally the big light outside goes on and tomorrow there will be more boiler jiggling happening so I suppose I will just enjoy rhe sonic soundscape

The insistence of people who do not write for children, engage with current works for children, or *current children* it seems half the time on opining about art written for children and teens is so bold and so so so so so so boring guys xxxx

The news is official! I can finally tell you that my next romcom Reality Check will be out in April next year!

‘escapist’ reality show romance

BY CASSIDY BAILEY.

The photo shows Hux a white person with light auburn hair sitting on a couch in a green lead patterned suit, eyes closed and laughing. Simon & Schuster UK has acquired two new novels by Lizzie Huxley-Jones, who was previously published by Hodder & Stoughton. Deputy publishing director Molly.
Crawford acquired world all-language rights in a two-book deal from Abi Fellows at DHH Literary Agency.
The first of the two novels, Reality Check, is a "funny, escapist" romance between two women who share a kiss behind the scenes of a reality TV show and find themselves choosing between on-screen fame or true love. Reality Check will publish in all formats in April 2026.
Crawford said: "I've long been obsessed with Lizzie's Christmas romances so am absolutely thrilled to be able to welcome them to the S&S list. Reality Check satiates a universal need for realistic romance elevated by unusual circumstance rather than narrative necessity.
Lizzie captures the chaos and charm of reality TV, weaving a love story that delivers kick-your-feet romance alongside punch-in-the-gut relatable detail. It centres and celebrates queer love, living with chronic illness and freeing ourselves from life's filters. It's a novel you can't help but press into the hands of friends and I'm so excited to take it to market." Huxley-Jones is the author of the queer holiday romcoms Make You Mine This Christmas and Under the Mistletoe with You, the young adult summer romance Hits Different co-written with Tasha Ghouri, and the Waterstones Children's Book Prize-shortlisted fantasy series Vivi Conway and the Sword of Legend. Reality Check is their third adult romance novel.
Huxley-Jones said: "Reality Check brings together my deep fascination with reality television, with the concept of persona and masking, through the experiences of two queer women who just cannot seem to escape each other. There's hijinks and fake-dating arrangements and an autistic girl unravelling 'comphet' all within the bounds of a wedding-themed dating show. It's been a book in my heart for years and I'm so glad it will reach readers next year.
"It is such a thrill and honour to bring my romcoms to the incredible team at Simon & Schuster, especially my wonderful editor Molly Crawford. They are not only a team who understand and respect commercial romance fiction, but one that deeply cares for their authors. It's been such a joy to work with them on Reality Check, my most ambitious romcom to date, and to see their enthusiasm at every step. I'm so thankful for my agent Abi Fellows finding my work such an enriching home."

Bought some new jeans and joked to Tim it’s so I’ll be even more like Izzy Rowlands bc they’re like some she has, and he stopped me and said hey if I like her, it’s because she has YOUR vibe, and isn’t that the nicest distinction haha.

Thrilled to share a clip from our funny new children's audiobook about the Stone Age. I had such fun writing and narrating this with the brilliant archaeologist @brennawalks.bsky.social

In this clip, join Homo Erectus on a scavenging hunt... but they're in for a nasty, LOUD surprise! (Sound on!)
